𝐓𝐄𝐍 || 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐦𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐃𝐨𝐰𝐧

"After school today is the big Death Spiral Smackdown. Me and Adam are gonna unleash the fury! You guys gonna come watch?" Leo asks us.

We sit in the kitchen having breakfast before school. "We'd love to, but we're gonna go to the mall and check out the escalator. I finally mastered the art of stepping off without tripping." Chase tells Leo. I chuckle, he always holds my hand so tight I think it might break.

"Ooh, um, were we supposed to do that today? Shoot, I-I can't make it. I have a really big test to study for." Bree tells him.

"What?" He sighs. "Okay, fine. I just hope those old ladies are there again to clap for me. Unless River you would come with me?" He looks up at me eagerly.

"Yeah, If you help me with my physics assignment?" I tell him.

"Done" He grins and I smile brightly.

"Never had this cereal before." Leo says taking a jar of power pellets.

"No, Leo! Those are power pellets." I exclaim.

"I don't care what they're called, as long as they make my milk chocolaty." He remarks.

"No. They're bite-sized pieces of adrenaline that activate our bionics." Chase explains.

"Yeah, but, we don't eat them anymore because we learned how to activate them ourselves." I tell him.

"They taste like dog treats without the livery aftertaste." We all look at Chase frowning. "I'm guessing." He shrugs.

"Well, I guess I'll just have these." Leo says taking another cereal.

"Careful, Leo! Those are Powdered Sugar Cookie Donut O's. Studies have shown they slow down your brain activity." Chase says taking the cereal away from him.

Adam walks into the kitchen gasping when he sees the cereal. "Yummy Powdered Sugar Cookie Donut O's!" He exclaims. We all nod as Chases point is practically proven. Chase, Bree and I get up going to get ready for school.

The school bell rings signalling the end of the school day and I sigh in relief. Chase and I walk through a hall to go to the mall.

"What is Bree still doing here? She said she had to study for a test." Chase asks spotting her talking to some of her friends in the hall.

I shake my head. "Yeah, she's not studying for a test."

Chase activates his bionic hearing and listens to her conversation. "She lied to me!" He exclaims.

"Wow. Millions of dollars of technology for you to get a tiny grasp of the obvious." I giggle nudging him. He rolls his eyes at me.

"She thinks she can ditch me and get away with it? Ohh. She is going down. Mr. Davenport gave me an Override App so in an emergency situation, I can take over Adam and Bree's bionics." He tells me.

"What about me?" I ask frowning.

He shakes his head. "No, not to you, I don't know why." He shrugs. "Connect to Bree."

Chase starts making Bree slap her self in the face. "Ow! Ow! Ow! Why am I hitting myself?" She asks loudly and in pain.

Chase and I laugh loudly from the corner. I feel bad for her but it was still kinda funny.

The next day me and Chase walk through the halls once school ends after English. Chase pulls me to the side against the lockers. "Ok there's Bree."

I pull my arm free looking at him with a frown. "Chase I don't think we should do this anymore." I tell him.

"Why not?" He asks looking at me.
