"Check out what I've done with my locker! Tah-dah! Here's where I keep my books. Down here I keep random strands of hair I've collected to make fake mustaches. And here is where I stockpile old lunches, or, as I like to call it, my tum-tum yum-yums." Adam tells us showing his open locker.

Leo walks up to us holding a card. "Hey, Leo. What's that?" Bree asks looking over his shoulder.

"My progress report. I can't believe my science teacher says I'm always late to class." Leo informs us.

"Well, you are always late to class." I comment.

"I know that, but I don't need it publicized." Leo snipes.

Chase runs up to us angrily. "Look at this! An "A-minus"! I knew my Home Ec teacher had it out for me. Always criticising my muffins." He exclaims.

"Hang on I got a better grade then you." I chuckle.

"What! What grade did you get?!" Chase asks.

"A+" I state smugly. Chase glares at me, I glare back playfully.

"Ha ha! I also beat you! I got a 'D-plus'! 'Plus' because I'm better!" Adam grins proudly. I shake my head and go to say something but I stop myself.

"Adam, the "plus" is-- You know what? It's just not even worth it anymore." Bree comments. I nod in agreement.

"'D' is not a good grade, but we don't really expect you to get good grades. I'm engineered to be the smartest person on the planet, and I just got an "A-minus." I've been relegated to into the huddled, unwashed masses of minuses, like you!" Chase says pointing to Adam.

"Chase, I know this must me hard for you, but, I mean, look at the bright side-- seeing you fall flat on your face is really fun for us!" Bree tells him happily.

"I have got to find a way to reclaim my superiority." Chase determines.

"Well, you could sign up for the Student of the Semester competition." Leo mentions.

"What's that?" I ask curiously. It sounds interesting.

"Every semester, kids compete to see who can best improve the school. Whoever gets the most votes wins free pencils, a bumper sticker, and a cheesy picture of himself on the wall!" Leo explains. He then points to a picture of a girl on the wall.

"And that cheesy picture will show everyone that my brilliance reigns supreme! I am so gonna win!" Chase declares.

"I call your free pencils! No, wait, I'll take the cheesy picture. Oh gosh, they both sound so good!" Adam exclaims.

The bell rings and I look to Adam and Chase. "Race ya'!" I yell in unison with the boys. We run out of the hall and to class. Both of them beat me as I am the smallest.

"Oh come on." I groan walking into class with the boys. "You guys always win. Just once I want to win." I sit down at my desk next to Chase and in front of Adam.

"Aww. Is skittles upset he lost again." Chase mocks. I roll my eyes, he knows I hate it when he calls me skittles. He started calling me skittles when I had gone on a giant sugar rush from eating skittles for the first time. It didn't go to well.

"Good morning class." Our teacher, Ms Knott, interrupts our classes jabber. "Today we are going to be starting our new book The Outsiders." The class groan but I hear small yes from beside me. I look over and see Chase smiling widely. I start to take out my book and I already feel the boredom setting in.

"Hey! What do you think?" Chase asks handing me a business card. The card has a picture of him on it.

"What do I think, or what's appropriate to say to your face?" Leo asks.
