Chapter 2~~ Inside the Mountian (Leaf)

Author's note: Icicle in this book is actually Winter, and Leaf is the scavenger that Winter named Bandit, "Gribli" Is Quibli and the caves that they are in are Jade Mountain at JMA

**and the translations from dragon to English I'll post beneath the paragraph in bold. :) (comment, if that gets annoying or something)**

Leaf woke up but was too exhausted to open his eyes. from what he could feel, there were furs draped over him, and he was on a hard surface, rocking back and forth. He blinked open his eyes. 

"WhereamI...AAAAARGH!" Leaf had looked down and instantly regretted it. he was about 50 feet in the air, in a cage dangling dangerously from one of the Ice Dragon's paws. To his surroundings, there were about 6 other Ice Dragons flying with the one that had captured it. Leaf shuddered and huddled into a tight ball in the center of his cage wrapped his blankets around him, the ominous mountain growing ahead.

There were two Night Dragons at the entrance of the cave that the Ice Dragons seemed to be headed towards. Both of the Night Dragons had strange silver teardrop scales by their eyes, which Leaf thought was an odd yet strangely beautiful extension for them. Leaf desperately wanted to take a closer look, but one of them ran off before they landed. 

"Roowwgh!" The one that hadn't run away said enthusiastically to the Ice Dragon "roughga rogh gra-grada Groogh! graa grrrrouw--" It handed Leaf's capture 2 scrolls, and then caught sight of Leaf. "Gro grr??"It asked pointing at Leaf.

"Hi, I'm Fatespeaker!"    "Welcome to  Jade Mountian Acadamy! here's a list of--"    "is that a scavenger?"

Leaf's capturer's gaze softened as he looked at Leaf. "Grrouuu" It confirmed. "Graa groo gggrrr rrr. Hisss GGGr" 

"Yes"    "I found him in the forest crouching behind a bush with his bottom furs off.  he's my pet"

Then it stopped talking immediately, glancing at his tribe members It ducked head at other glaring Ice Dragons then shoved the Night Dragon aside while growling. "Grr groo-groo Gra Gro-gro, Grra Grrro,"  IT put on an expressionless face and stormed bast a banner that said something in dragon, and stormed into a cave with two platform-beds, one made out of cool stone, another covered in sand.

"But Its none of your business, Night Wing"

Leaf really wished Wren was here. The Ice Dragons were so confusing - especially his captor, which he mentally named "Icicle" based on his personality.

"HISSSSSSS GROO Gra Gri Gribli!" A Desert Dragon announced to Icicle, appearing in their cave and flinging himself on to the sandy ledge. "Groo, GRooW GrRr?" It asked, poking Icicle in the wing. Icicle had been feeding dead animals to Leaf. un cooked, and fresh. he had just finished throwing up. 

"Helloooooooo! my name's Quibli!"    "Igloo-Face? Hello? what's yours? Igloo-face?"

Icicle hissed something under his breath and breathed a thin bit of frost on the edge of "Gribli's"  wing. 

Leaf gapped at the ice on Gribli's wing. He had heard of the power of the Ice Dragons from Ivy, but never quite believed it until now, as Gribli yelped back in pain and arched his scorpion-like tail at Icicle.

Leaf jumped up. the sting could kill  Icicle. 

"STOP!" he yelled although he knew the dragons couldn't understand him. "STOP! YOU'D KILL HIM!" He searched his mind for an excuse. The first one to come to mind was "I NEED HIM TO PROTECT ME!"  

"...unless he is planning to eat me," Leaf silently added on, cringing "honestly, a dragon? protecting me? Come on, Leaf, get your head straight."

Gribl peered at Leaf, his black eyes watching Leaf's every movement, then turned to Icicle

"GRaa gree Hisss rrr grrow?" He asked Icicle. "GROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWROW?" he begged, pouting his snout a little.o

"Can I play with your scavenger?"    "PLEEEEEEAAAAASE???"

"Gra," Icicle growled reluctantly. "GRRRr, rr Hsss!" It snapped as Gribli ran towards Leaf's cage.

"Fine... But don't you DARE eat it!"

Leaf backed to the opposite side of his cage in fright, as Gribli's paw came closer and closer. he opened the latch, and, to Leaf's imminent surprise, stepped aside to let him out

"Is he... freeing me?" leaf thought, confused. "Or he's letting me out so he can stab me with his tail. Think the reality, Leaf."

Despite his negative thoughts, Leaf cautiously slipped out of his cage and onto the cool stone of the cave. 

He looked at the curious looks from both the dragons. and cautiously said the only word he knew in Dragon.

Hi, he thought, trying to mimic the sounds that Wren had taught him. "GRee RRrr," he said waving at Gribli.

"Camel Spit"

Icicle snorted in amusement and earned a glare from Gribli, who shot a slightly amused, slightly aggregated glance at Leaf.

"GRa GRIII Gra RRowge," Gribli said

"Alright, I'm picking him up."

Icicle and Leaf both tensed as Gribli bent down. When Leaf saw paws reaching down, he was on his feet at an instant running down the tunnels. 

"ROOOOOAAAAAAAAARRRRRRR! Gro RRR Hiss GRAAAA GEEE GRRRRRRRRRRRRR GRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Icicle roared at Gribli, then sprang and ran after Leaf.

"*Actual roar.* Look what you did! He's going to be eaten alive out there, you moon-blasted sand wing idiot clawmate!!! DON'T just SIT THERE!!!"

Leaf ran even faster, his feet changing from sore to burning to numb, along the cold rocky caves. He rounded a corner and froze. In front of him was a madhouse lashing claws, teeth, and scales of all colors. all color drained from his face as what felt like every single hungry snout stare at him. before he could pivot and RUN,  there were dragons everywhere grabbing and lashing out at him. his mind raced thinking about the story that Rowen told him. a human thrown into a crowd of dragons and the dragon biting his head off, then stuffing the rest in its mouth.  No no no no NO. Would that be his future? would the last time he saw wren and Ivy be as he was running off to piss? His heart beat faster and faster, claws inches away from his head. 

"I need to hide. I need to get out of here. I NEED TO HIDE"

then black talons wrapped around him blocking his escape.
