BEIJING, CHINA
Alfred had just gotten off the plane and began to make his way to the hotel. The world meeting was being held in China this month, so Alfred did his best to catch up on his Manderin before coming.
Right outside the airport was a little girl with a torn teddy bear, her mother frantically trying to calm her down. Alfred, luckily, had an emergency sewing kit in his backpack. So he quickly knelt down, picking up the littered pieces of fluff.
((There isn't a good Manderin translator, so if it's in bold it's in Manderin))
"Is everything ok? Did your doll break?"
"Yes, Stripes got caught in our cab door. He gave us the arm back, but she still ripped apart!"
The little girl continued to cry, while the mom seemed impressed with Alfred's Manderin. Alfred pulled out the sewing kit and began to thread the needle.
"Let me see Stripes, I'll fix her up in a jiffy!"
The little girl handed him the small kitten toy, the nation quickly getting to work. They had a small conversation while he did so, learning the little girl's name was Ura and the mother's name was Jun. They talked about how Ura had gotten Stripes from her father a few days before he had died in a car accident, and how Stripes was really the only thing she had left to remember of him.
Alfred frowned at the idea someone so young had lost their father, so he was quick to make her laugh with some funny stories. A few more moments passed, and he smiled as he finished the last stitch, knotting the string and cutting it as close to the knot as possible. He then handed the small toy back to the girl, telling her Stripes needed to take it easy for a bit. He then winked and bidded the family farewell, unaware that someone had been watching everything go down.
He had only walked a few blocks before he felt a raindrop pelt his head. He looked up and saw that dark clouds were beginning to gather and thunder clashed in the distance. He sighed as he began to run with his suitcase, finding himself begin to get lost. The rain began to pour down to the Earth, Alfred ducked below a small shack for some cover.
That's when a familiar face emerged from the crowd of umbrellas, his traditional red pinyin easily spottable in the sea of business attire. His brown hair was still over his shoulder and his umbrella seemed to have a bunch of kitties all over it.
"What up dumpling dude?" he asked with a smile to the taller nation. The elder looked down at the blonde with a sad frown.
"You will get sick if you stay out here, aru. Come home with me," Alfred didn't question the elder and followed him, being sure to keep close. When they finally arrived, Alfred was soaked to the bone, "aiya, dry your hair! I can not afford someone getting sick!" Yao threw him a towel and went to the kitchen to check on his soup.
While Alfred was drying his hair, he thought it would be ok to venture a bit. So, he walked through China's house. He came upon a room that he assumed to have been Hong Kong's, so he was careful when entering. He saw how many videogames his half brother had, making a soft chuckle escape him.
But then his eyes wandered to the closet, where he saw a beautiful red dress.
Alfred decided to try it on, finding it to be just his size. He twirled in the dress, happily laughing. He then saw a box with a pretty head piece, so Alfred put it on as well. The looked in the long mirror, giggling to himself as he danced. That's when Alfred realized there was a card attached to the sleeve. It was written in English, something Alfred found odd.
To my dear little lotus blossom,
I hope to see you wear this on our wedding day, but I am not brave enough to tell you. I wish I had your courage, your valor, your love. One day, we will be together. When that day comes, I will shower you with all the food and cuddles you could ever want.Forever yours, Yao
"Alfred, I have some tea for-" China walked down the hall, coming upon Hong Kong's open door. When he see Alfred in the dress, he dropped the tray of tea. The cups shattered and the hot tea went everywhere. Alfred blushed darkly as he noticed China's stares, making China go nuts, "why are you wearing that, aru! It isn't ready!"
"I'm sorry Yao, but it's just so pretty! I love the colors and fabrics, they look splendid together! They're going to make a wonderful gift for whoever you're giving it to!" Alfred smiled innocently as Yao blushed.
"It is for you, aru! It was going to be your wedding gown for when I finally have the courage to ask you out and when we finally get married, aru! Now the surprise is ruined, aru!" Alfred blushed even darker as Yao continued his nervous ranting. Alfred calmly moved forward and silenced him with a kiss, catching the elder way off guard.
"I love it! You could've just asked me out! I've liked you for a while!" Alfred smiled sweetly, making Yao chuckle. The two spent the rest of the night eating and cuddling.
When the meeting rolled around next morning, Alfred was the first one up. He decided he was going to make China breakfast in bed and get ready for the meeting. So, he whipped up some congee (rice porridge) with a few sprinkles of peanuts. He brought up the breakfast and fed his lover, the two happily conversing until it was time to get ready for the meeting.
The ride there was wonderful, Alfred and Yao holding hands while talking. Many gave them looks, but neither of them cared. Even when entering the meeting, nobody picked on Alfred or Yao. The entire day was going wonderfully!
Until some tea loving European had to open his mouth.
"America, it us jour turn to present!" Germany yelled as he took his seat. Alfred happily nodded and basically skipped his way to the podium, getting his papers in order. But before he could even open his mouth, he heard a specific ex father groan.
"You can't possibly think he has anything different to say? It's always the same bloody thing every month! Can't we just skip his useless ideas and go to lunch?" England smirked as Alfred flinched.
"But, I actually have-"
"Nobody bloody cares, America. You seem to forget 3/4 of these topics were caused by you anyway. If you ask me, you should be trying to find these answers and solving these problems on your own. I mean, look at you. World Hunger shouldn't be a thing if you're that big!" England laughed, making a few other nations laugh as well.
"'e iz right! You 'ave gotten very large as of yet! I zink you may explode if you eat anymore! Honhonhon!"
More and more nations began to add weight to the pile of insults, Alfred beginning to visibly flinch as each venomous word was spat at him. He finally couldn't take it anymore and ran out of the hall, crying into his sleeve. Most of the nations felt awful for having made America cry, but China didn't feel sad.
No, he was furious~
"WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU, ARU! HE WAS YOUR SON AT ONE TIME, YOUR BROTHER! HOW COULD YOU HURT HIM IN SUCH WAYS! AMERICA IS JUST A BOY AND IS REALLY SMALL! HE ISN'T THE LEAST BIT FAT! OPIUM, YOU ARE AN AWFUL EXCUSE FOR A NATION AND I HOPE YOU DIE IN A HOLE!"
China slammed the door shut behind him and ran after Alfred, calling his name. When he finally found Alfred in a broom closet, he picked up the younger and left. He carried America all the way home, setting him on a bunch of pillows and heating up some left over breakfast. He never was one to lose his temper, but he couldn't help it.
Gazing at America, still crying on his pillows, he decided from then on out that no one would ever hurt his beloved again. After gathering a bowl and sitting down, China wiped Alfred's tears and fed the love of his life until he smiled again.
