After we shared a simple conversation, both us inadvertently fell to the edge of profound stillness and silence. Jaehyun's companionable silence was somehow comforting and spoke for itself, it was peaceful in a way where you could feel at home and know that no matter what was happening, he was there for you.

Thereafter, the only thing that is absorbing in my ears is the strumming of the guitar and the singer's soulful voice. Jaehyun and I watched intently on the stage.

"All I want is nothing more
To hear you knocking at my door
'Cause if I could see your face once more
I could die as a happy man I'm sure."

I swallowed convulsively as I clasp my trembling hands together. The lyrics swim through my cerebral cortex like a wakeful dream. Every emotional beat transcends down to my spinal cord as if it's getting into me. It penetrates every inch of me without an effort. The next thing I know, my brain is already clouded and got ruled by my overflowing abyss of uncontrollable emotions.

"When you said your last goodbye
I died a little bit inside
I lay in tears in bed all night
Alone without you by my side..."

I'm almost tearing up when Jaehyun nudged me.

"Save your crying for later. You haven't consumed anything yet. You might get dehydrated."

I nodded. By his tone, he somehow resembles my Mother's way of scolding.

Thereafter, our food got served.

"Eat now," Jaehyun says.

"I don't have an appetite."

"You said you were starving. Stop thinking. Let's talk about it later." He said.

I merely nod as a response. Afterward, I began digging into my food without talking or looking at him. Every so often, I spaced out of my thoughts, but when it happens, Jaehyun snaps me viciously back into reality. He didn't mumble any word but what he gave me was more than that. It was his gentle gaze every time I'm inexplicably lost. It was his silence of compassion that seemed to pat the insides of me.

As soon as we finish eating, we both decided to drink our soju. One sip from it, I'm already drunk. The alcohol substance engrosses to me within a nanosecond that made my cheeks flushed red.

Before I even get intoxicated by the power of soju, I talked once again.

"What happened to your 'don't ever see me again', Doc? Why did you pull me away from that? Do you pity me that much?" I asked, jerking my head as I placed both my hands in my blazing cheeks.

"No. What I've overheard from her is too much. I don't want to just allow you to hear nonsense things like that." He gulps down the soju.

"You were so cynical the last time that I saw you.
And I thought that was what the real grown-up looks like..."
