All my classes were done, and my back is already aching. I was about to leave the school premises when I spotted Jaehyun walking near me. He seemed not to notice me so I ran onto him like a child.
"Hi Doc!" I greeted.
He looked at my way with a nasty look before he continued walking; this time, he's walking faster. I made a face as I chase him.
"I'm studying here," I said.
"Obviously,"
"Will Junhoe learn about this?"
He halted from walking as he looked at me as if he was pissed.
"If I'm going to report you, I should've done that long ago. I'm not a reporter who'll tell Junhoe about this. This is not my business to interfere."
I smiled. Look at this guy, very consistent at being a snob. I'm just probing him.
"As expected," I shrugged.
"Stop probing. We're not friends. Don't expect anything from me."
I gaped at him. "But we're acquaintances."
"You promised not to see me again. Why can't you do it?" Jaehyun says.
"Why can't you do it?" I mocked.
"This will be the last time, Rosé. Don't ever see me again, okay? After I'm done being your temporary professor, let's not see each other again."
"Sure." I giggled.
There's no way we could see each other again. I just wanted to talk to him. For some reason, I felt like I needed him because Jaehyun is a comfort. It's uncertain why, but he is. His straightforwardness is a breath of fresh air.
Before he dashed out, I called his name. Then again, he didn't pay attention to me.
"Doc! Have you eaten?" I teased.
The following days, I frequently walk with him to leave the school premises. We're walking together and yet never have he ever acknowledge my presence. It's not as if I'm wishing though. Sometimes, I just really want to shake him and say, "Am I just a shadow for you?"
Whenever I have a chance on seeing him near, I always tend to ask him if he was already eaten. He doesn't answer though. He would just give me a sideways glance with a frown on his face then continued walking; this time rapidly as if no one asked something. It's not as if I'm hoping for any answer.
Doc Jaehyun, I could tell, is a man of passion in terms of studying the science for application. It's the way he tells everything to us. He makes everything easier and interesting despite how boring and complex the topic he was indulging in. He's strict but understanding. Sometimes, some of my bloc mates who often answer recitation during our classes hesitate to take courage. As their mantra says, Doc Jaehyun is intimidating. Though he accepts wrong answers, they're still terrified that they might state a wrong answer and disappoint him. I can't blame them though since I also feel the same thing.
