Daisy, Mia and Jason were sitting in one of the many carriages, making their way towards the castle to begin their third year at Hogwarts.

"Are these under a spell or something?" The Gryffindor asked with his eyebrows furrowed.

"No," Mia shook her head at the boy. "They are pulled by Thestrals."

"Thestrals?" Daisy tilted her head in confusion.

"Yes. Thestrals are a breed of winged horse. They have a skeletal body and large, bat-like wings. Only those can see them who have witnessed death," she explained.

"Can you see them?" Jason widened his eyes.

"No, but I've done my research on them a while ago. I asked someone last year about how the carriages worked and they told me, but I should have known, it makes sense. Didn't that question cross your mind the first time you got into one?"

"Nah, I was too excited about meeting my friends again," he leaned back in his seat.

"You should pay more attention to your surroundings."

"Okay, Mum," he rolled his eyes at the Ravenclaw.

"Hey," Daisy cut in. "What electives did you guys choose to start again? I forgot."

"I chose Muggle Studies and Divination," the redhead answered.

"You? Divination?" Mia raised an eyebrow at him. "Are you serious?"

"Yeah," he shrugged.

"Why?" Mia pressed on.

"Basically... a few of us guys were discussing which ones we should choose, and James suggested we take up Divination, because apparently it's just a bunch of rubbish and a class that you can relax in, so we all picked that as one of our electives."

The girl's jaw clenched at the sound of his words. "A bunch of rubbish and a class you can relax in?" She asked back with narrowed eyes.

"Y-yes?" Jason gulped.

"If we end up having Divination together and you or any of your stupid friends ruin the class for me, I won't hesitate to use my wand on you, I swear!" Mia threatened.

"Okay, chill," he raised his hands in surrender. "Seriously, calm down. You look scary."

"Good," she crossed her arms over her chest.

"Oh, come on," Daisy put an arm on her shoulder. "On the bright side, you guys at least have a chance at being in a class together. I chose Care of Magical Creatures and Muggle Studies."

"You have Muggle Studies too?" Jason's eyes lit up. "Cool!"

"It does sound interesting," Mia frowned slightly. "Let me know how it is, maybe I'll start it next year."

"Sure thing," the Hufflepuff nodded with a smile.

"Wait, I almost forgot," Jason slapped himself on the forehead, looking at Mia. "How is Kaden? Is he excited?"

"Let's just say that he didn't shed any tears while saying goodbye to our parents."

"Don't worry, I'll try to look after him. Make sure he doesn't forget to do his homework and all that," Jason said.

"What do you mean you'll look after him?" The brunette questioned.

"Well, you won't really be able to do that, right? You're not in Gryffindor."

"He hasn't even been sorted yet," Mia shook her head. "But yeah, my bet is on Gryffindor as well, to be honest."

"Wait, have you guys heard?" Daisy asked suddenly.
