Day 14
Louis was once again anxious, but he thinks this one is for a good cause.
Harry had picked the worst day to take Louis on a date, and Louis didn't have the strength to see how Harry would react.
Louis' phone had been bombarded with five missing calls from his mother, a missed call from Ashton, three texts from Calum alone, a lazy text full of disgusting shortcuts from Michael and six texts from a few of his old friends back in High School and the ones he now rarely sees anymore.
Ah, birthdays.
He never liked birthdays.
Sure the party, cake, presents and the amount of people who properly gives a shit about you is exciting, but he didn't like the idea of growing old, his mum actually once joked about making him wear a Peter Pan costume because of his silly fear (and the fact that this is his twenty third birthday didn't make anything better.)
But Louis decided to ignore all of it and focus on his day with Harry instead, panicking on what outfit to wear and after dramatic moments of frustration he decided to just slip on whatever that makes his curves stand out.
(Hint: it's a white tank top with extra tight black skinny jeans that hugged his ass perfectly. Not too formal nor casual, he thinks.)
Then a knock was heard on his door, they both agreed that Harry would pick Louis up from his apartment at three and he's just on time.
Louis opened the door to a human embodiment of sunshine, a perfect companion for this chilly winter air.
"Hi, Harry." Louis greeted him, grinning.
"Louis Tomlinson." Harry said with an equally wide grin.
"You ready?" Harry asked. Louis was about to nod before he remembered something and held up a finger, "Wait, I'm gonna go grab my jacket."
Before he disappeared to his room he yelled at Harry to sit down on the couch while he waits, might as well make himself feel like home.
Just as Harry flopped himself on the couch, a phone keeps on beeping, Harry knows it's not his phone because his was on vibrate. He didn't mean to be sneaky, but Louis' phone was right next to him on the lamp desk and the messagess was displayed on the lockscreen freely.
Ashton: u didnt answer my call dickhead i hope harry bangs u to death
Ashton: kidding. but i do hope u get gr8 birthday sex tho.
Ashton: btw happy 23rd birthday
Harry cringed at the typing, and a blush did crept up his cheek when he read about the dirty parts. But most importantly, it's Louis' birthday?
When Louis returned to where Harry was, Harry didn't get up. Instead he pointedly stared at Louis' phone, Louis raised his brows in confusion before grabbing his phone, alarmed. His eyes wide as he stared at the screen.
"You didn't tell me it's your birthday." Harry said.
Louis only frowned, "I didn't think it would matter. I never liked birthdays anyway."
Harry only rolled his eyes, "It's your birthday, Lou, of course if would matter-" Louis tried to ignore the way his stomach flipped. "-If you told me I could've actually set up some extra romantic special date for your birthday. Not some crappy idea to the amusement park."
Louis sighed before he finally came up with an idea. "How's this, I pick the date and we'll consider that as the birthday thing." Harry's face lit up like a lightbulb, "Yeah? Where do you wanna go then?"
Louis bit his bottom lip in concentration, "Ice skating?" He suggested. Something flashed in Harry's eyes (nervousness?) but it disappeared as quickly as it appeared.
"Alright. Let's go."
-
Louis should've known.
He should've figured earlier that what flashed in Harry's eyes was actual nervousness.
Because Harry couldn't skate for shit.
He keeps falling over on his ass and Louis is starting to think that they might need a pillow tied to it. But it was kind of adorable though, the way he would convince Louis that he's going alright and the next he's clinging on to Louis like a koala.
The night ended with them bursting in a fit of giggles, vanilla ice cream over Harry's nose and him desperately trying to avenge on Louis.
It was eight when they finally reached the doorstep of Louis' apartment.
"It's been a wonderful night, Lou." Harry said, leaning against the door.
Louis grinned at him, taking his hands. "Thank you."
So they just kind of stood there for a few minutes, hearts on their eyes and an equally toothy grin on both of their faces. Young and in love.
Harry was the first to break the silence.
"I love you," he whispered, blown by the wind. "And I don't regret saying it. I fell for you the moment you started appreciating my jokes, the second day I guess. God, your giggle, I just-"
"Hey, Harry?" Louis interrupted. "I think love you too."
Harry laughed, "You think?"
Louis tapped his fingers on his chin while humming absentmindedly, and then he looked up with the stars in his eyes. "No, I know I love you."
And another silence developed.
Until Louis decided to open the door and welcomed himself, "G'night Harry."
Just as Harry turned on his heels to walk away, Louis' voice was heard. "Har, would you like to... Stay the night?"
Harry turned around and beamed at him, "Yeah, I'd like that."
