Chapter 21

December 27th 2017
Saturday

Alex POV
It was 6:04 pm and John was arriving soon. I sat on the couch and figited with my hoodie sleeve impatiently waiting for him to arrive. Martha was in the kitchen making dinner and Washington was sitting in a chair next to me reading a book. Bella was sitting on the floor playing with a few toys she got for Christmas, along with the bear I bought her. She attached to that thing.

"If this is how you act a week apart from each other, I'm scared to see how you would act for a month." Washington says not looking up from his book, I roll my eyes.

The door knocks and I almost fall out off the couch. I jump up and run towards the door. I open it, John is standing outside with a small bag which probably had his clothes and stuff in it, "Hey!" he said cheerfully, I dive into his arms and he hugs me tightly, "I missed you too." he said.

He walks inside taking off his coat, "Hey Mr. Washington!" he calls into the lounge, Washington gets up and walks over to us, "Thanks for letting me stay here for the week, my family gets a bit crazy during the holidays." Washington smiles, "Of course." he says.

Washington goes to help Martha in the kitchen just as Bella walks up to us, she stares at John. "And you must be Bella. I'm John." John says kneeling down. Her big eyes widen as she looks at him.

"So, you're big brothers prince?" she asks bluntly, my face goes red and John laughs. "Did Alex call me that?" he asks not looking back at me, she nods. "He said you're his knight in shining armor whose fought monsters and saved him from his dark and lonely dungeon."

I expect another comment from John so I just cover my face. John stands up and looks at me, "Did you really say that?" he asks, I take my hands off my face, "...yeah."

John walks towards me, he takes my hands in his, "If I'm your prince, does that make you my princess?" he asks and my face goes even more red, he laughs and places his hand on my cheek, he kisses me gently.

"Ehem." we break apart and I look behind John to see Washington, "Child in the room." he says, John and I look down at Bella and her eyes are wide in excitement, she has the biggest smile on her face.

I sigh and drop my head into John's shoulder and he laughs wrapping his arms around my waist and pulls me into a hug. I wrap my arms around his neck and we stay like that for a second.

"Well, I would love to leave you two alone but it's dinner time." Washington says walking away. We let go of each other and walk to the dining room, Bella happily skipping along behind us.

"Hello John, it's good to see you again." Martha says as I take a seat next to Alex, "You too, your house is lovely." John says and Martha laughs. "Thank you John." she says.

Geez, it's like he's trying to win them over. Like how people act when they're meeting their girlfriend or boyfriends parents for the first time and they need to impress them so they can continue to date them.

I sigh shaking off the thought and eat dinner like a normal person.

"That was delicious, thank you for the dinner Mrs. Washington." John says once we'd finished, "Oh of course sweetie." George gets up grabbing everyone's plates.

Bella yawns, "You wanna go to sleep?" I ask and she nods her head getting up, "I'll tuck you in." I say and she starts walking up the stairs, I grab John's hand and we walk up after her. I take us to my bedroom so she can get dressed and brush her teeth.

"Wow, your room is huge." John says as we enter. I sit on my bed putting my phone down on the bedside table. "My family is rich and I'm the oldest and even my bedroom isn't this big."

He sits down next to me, I contemplate telling him about Christmas eve but decide not to. I don't want him to get angry at me and I really don't want him to worry. He must have noticed something was up.

"Hey, are you alright? You're quiet." I shake my head, "No, it's nothing important." I say, he looks at me as if I'm stupid. "When you say something isn't important it ends up being really important 99% of the time."

I roll my eyes, "Well this is the 1%." I say back. Bella openes the door and peeks her head in, I get up and walk to the door, John gets up to get dressed.

Bella and I walk to her room and she jumps onto her bed, I pull the covers up over her and she lies down, I switch on her night light, "Night night Alexander." she says sleepily, I kiss her forehead, "Goodnight Bella." I say, I leave the room with the door slightly open, just how she likes it, and walk back to my room.

I enter and close the door, John is in a long sleeve top and sweat pants. I grab out some comfortable clothes to sleep in and John goes to brush his teeth so I can dress in peace.

After we'd both dressed and brushed our teeth we climb into bed. John pulls me into in and I embrace it, it feels nice. Safe.

Soon after he falls asleep.

I had managed to get out of John's grasp. It was 2:26 in the morning, I couldn't sleep. My mind was racing and I needed a distraction so I decided to start writing an essay for one of my classes. John didn't wake up to the desk light but I figured he would to noise so I kept as quiet as possible.

"Alexander?" says a voice from the door, I look up to see Bella. She walks over to me, "What are you doing?" she asks quietly, "I couldn't sleep so I decided to work." I say. She jumps up onto my lap.

"You wear glasses?" she asks and I nod, she turns her head to look at my papers. She scans my desk and her eyes fall on my hand, "You write with your left hand?" she asks, "Yeah, I do." I reply. She smiles a bit, "I do too!" she whispers.

John stirrs a bit and I pray he doesn't wake up, he doesn't. Thank God. Bella yawns and gets off my lap, "You should go to sleep." she says and I laugh a bit, "You're the tired one." I say back. She walks towards the door,

"John might be cold all by himself. You should go keep him warm." she says before exiting, closing the door behind her. I blush hard and turn back to my papers, "This can wait I suppose."

I put my glasses on my desk and switch off the light. I climb back in the bed with John, I lie on my back and stare at the dark ceiling. I feel John move towards me and pull me back into his embrace. "Warm." he mumbles. I turn to him and close my eyes.

"I should tell him..." I think to myself, "He has a right to know."
