Chapter 27

John POV
It's Valentines Day! We're all spending the night with our significant others today. Laf and Herc, Angie and the guy she made out with on New Years who's name is John Church, Eliza and her boyfriend and Peggy and Maria who she did know she was kissing.

Alex and I are going back to that Italian place that we went for our first date because I figured it would be romantic. I was sitting on the couch waiting for him to get here so we could go. I was getting worried he was cornered again by Jefferson and didn't have it in him to sock him in the stomach again so I was about to go look for him when he knocked on the door.

I opened it and he smiled. "Happy Valentines Day." he said and kissed me, I gave him a bouquet of flowers and he playfully punched me, "So cliche." he said and I laughed, "Just you wait."

He put them in some water before we left. We once again walked to the restaurant and got a table. We ordered our food and drinks and talked about random things while we waited.

He was laughing at a stupid joke I made when someone says his name, "Alexander?" he look up to see a waitress, she looks familiar. "Oh hey Sally!" he says smiling, "Hey, how are you?" she asks, "I'm good thanks, you?" "Good as well. Is this your date?" she asks pointing to me and he nods, "Yeah, you remember Sally right John? On our first date she chased Jefferson off." he says and I nod realizing who it is, "Right! Hi. I'm John Laurens, we haven't formally met yet."

I holds out my hand and she shakes it, "Sally Hemings, I've heard a lot about you. You sound like the best boyfriend to ever exist." she says, I blush a little and see Alex smirk.

"Well anyways, I'm gonna stop intruding on your date. Happy Valentines Day!" she says and walks off. "When did you two become friends?" I ask, he laugh a bit. "We met in a coffee shop while I was with the sisters before Christmas, we get along pretty well." he says.

We finish our dinner, pay and leave. Instead of walking back to the school I take us somewhere a little different. Our school just so happens to be very close to Forest Park which is exactly how it sounds.

We take an Uber because it's a little too far to walk. Once we get there I take him to a place thats a little bit more secluded. Tall dark trees and an opening where you can see the lake and a few lights far out I strung up fairy lights so it looks pretty magical. He stares in awe, "Wow..." he says. I play music off my phone and take his hand, "You wanna dance?" I ask. He blushes and nods his head silently.

I pull him into my chest, he puts his hands on my shoulders and I put my hands around his waist, we sway in time to the music.

He rests his head on my chest and sighs, "This is amazing." he says quietly, "Thank you for the most amazing night." he hugs me as the song ends, "Thank you for being in my life." he looks up at me and smiles, I kiss him gently.

His phone buzzes, he picks it up and reads the message, "Laf and Herc are gonna have sex in my dorm, can I sleep on the couch?" he asks putting his phone back in his pocket, I laugh, "You can sleep on the couch whenever you want." I reply.

He smiles again and sits down up against the tree, I sit next to him and he leans his head on my shoulder. We stare out over the water for a moment, "This place is beautiful..." Alex says, "Not as beautiful as you." I say back and he laughs, "Ha! So cheesy." I laugh too putting my arm around him and pulling him closer

"You wanna head back? We can watch Titanic. Or something not drama/love related." I say he thinks for a moment, "Or, we can watch something that is drama/love related but also comedy and not sad." we look at each other and say it at the same time, "F.R.I.E.N.D.S."

We laugh standing up, I switch off the fairy lights and grab my phone heading back up to the road. I call us an Uber and we hewad back to the dorms.

We get inside my dorm and he sits in the couch switching the TV on, I make us a bowl of popcorn. I sit down next to him and he cuddles up to me, we watch a few episodes and eat the popcorn.

He looks like he's lost in thought so I pause it, "You okay?" I ask, he shakes his head, "I'm just thinking... I know I'm probably never gonna get over what Jefferson did three years ago but, I can't live in fear forever." I look at him confused, he sits up, "I'm 17, and I trust you. I love you and I want us to be together..." my heart rate increases as I begin to realize what he's saying, "So I was thinking, we could maybe..."

"You sure?" I ask and he nods gus head, "I don't want to overstep my boundaries, I really care about you and if you aren't sure then-" he cuts me off my kissing me, "That is one of the many reasons why I love you." he says and kisses me again.

He continues to kiss me and I wrap my arms around his waist. He runs his hands up my shirt, "Wait! Bedroom." I say, we get up and walk to my room, I push him down onto the bed and continue to kiss him.

That truly was the most amazing night ever. We fall asleep in my bed, Alex has wrapped himself around me and I've pulled him into my chest. I know we've only been dating for four months but I can already see him walking down that aisle. I really hope it comes to that.

His body is warm against mine. I run my fingers through his loose hair, "John?" "Yeah?" "Thank you, this has been the best night of my life." I kiss him on the top of his head, "Me too..."
