Chapter 11

John POV
Alex was not having a great time and he was trying to make it seem like he was fine, which is weird because usually people don't pretend to not be in pain when they have three stitches in their stomach.

He lay on the hospital bed trying not to make eye contact with me. "Baby? You good?" he continued to not look at me, "Yeah I'm good." he replied, "Mhm, you look perfect." I said sarcasticly. He tried to sit up but I pushed him back down, "Nuh uh! No way!" I yelled, he sighed.

I sat down and was about to say something when the door burst open and a very angry Angelica came running in, "WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU DO!?" she screamed at him, the rest of the group came running in behind her, "Eliza, back me up!" Alex yelled as she walked through the door, Eliza just looked at him, "Alex, are you fuCKING INSANE?!" she screamed at him and Alex just dropped his head onto the pillow.

"Leave him alone he's going through a lot." I say and Peggy glares at me. "Well now that you're not bleeding out on our couch, you mind telling us what the letter said?" Lafayette asked sitting on a chair, "What letter?" Peggy asked sitting down too, "The letter that was inside of him." Herc said.

Angelica gives Alex another angry look and he sighs. "Uh.. It was..." he shuts eyes and takes a breath. He reaches over to the table next to the bed and picks up the letter which I didn't know he brought with, he handed it to me, I looked at him and he just nodded his head, I looked at the paper,

Alexander, I know that this
is something you don't want
to read, especially not from me
but you need to know about this.
I might make the worst mistake
of my life, it will end my life.
It's either a mistake or the best
decision of my life, either way
I'm sorry.

I'm sorry I'm asking this of
you but if you read this before
it's done, please try and stop me.

"Oh my God..." Angie reached out for the paper and I gave it to her, Peggy and Eliza read over her shoulder, "Oh... Oh Alex!" Peggy said sitting on his bed pulling him gently into a hug. He hugged her back and I could see him blinking back teats, I felt so bad. Lafayette grabbed the letter and Hercules pulled him onto his lap so he could read too.

"Oh my God Alex, I'm so sorry!" Hercules said once he'd finished reading it, Lafayette handed me the note and I put it back on the table. Peggy let go of Alex and he lay back down. He covered his face and groaned.

"This is all my fault!" he yelled, "Uh I thought the whole point of this was that it wasn't your fault." Angelica said, "It is! He actually told me to stop him!" I grabbed his arm, "Alexander it's not your fault, you didn't know." I said, "I would have if I had just read the letter!"

And right as I was about to say something back George and Martha Washington rushed through the door, "Oh my God Alexander, are you alright?!" Martha said running to Alexander's side, "Alexander, what happened?" Washington asked worried, Alex removed his hands from his face, "It's a long story." he said.

The doctor walked in, "Okay mister Hamilton, you just need to rest up for a few days, the wound should heal pretty fast. Come back in a few weeks and we'll see if it's ready to get the stitches removed." he said and Alexander just nodded his head, "Now to discuss your method of payment-" "Don't worry I've got it." said Washington taking out his wallet, "No, no, no!" Alex yelled.

"I'm not letting you pay for this!" he said, "Yes I am, It's my fault I hadn't added you to the insurance yet. I was gonna do it tomorrow, I didn't think something like this would happen so soon!" Washington states, "Does your insurance pay for self harm?" I ask, they both look at me with wide eyes, Alex hits my arm.

Martha and George just stared at him. "Oh my God honey, I knew you were dealing with some stuff but I-" "No! No, this was for a different reason." Alex said, they looked confused, "It doesn't matter, the point is I'm not letting you pay. I have some money saved up for when I did this and I'm paying for it myself."

"How much is it?" I asked, "$2000" said the doctor, I looked at Alex and he nodded, "You checked?!" I asked, "What?" he asked as if I was the weird one. "Oh my God." "Look it's not that big of a deal John." "When were you planning on reading that letter?" I asked, he stayed silent, "Well?" he sighed, "I didn't think I'd be getting anything from his will..." he said. I got up and sat on the bed with him.

"Wait what?" asked Eliza, "I'm gonna go up to St. Croix for my cousins will." "Oh my God sweetie, you're going up alone?" asked Martha, "No, I'm going with." I said, Alex looked at me, "Baby, you don't have to." he said, "Of course I do, I'm not letting you go there alone." I said, he smiled and pulled me into a kiss, "Thank you." he said once we broke apart. "Of course."
