Chapter 37

Wednesday

Alex POV
Classes were the normal, were getting ready for our exams next week so it's a lot of work, but the day ended pretty early so John and I get ready to go shopping for the rest of our apartment. We drive up to the building and meet his dad outside.

"We're just gonna go look around the apartment and see what you need." he says as we enter the elevator. We get up to our apartment and start looking around, "Couch Pillows. Carpet for the living room, curtains, house plants-" "Wait! Someone right it down!" John yells grabbing a note book.

After about fifteen minutes we leave to get everything we need, we want this place ready so we can have the guys over tonight. And maybe George, Martha and Bella if they can. We get into the car and go.

We get back and take the stuff up to the apartment with multiple trips. We start to put things where they belong.

The couch is white so we decided to add rainbow to it like I suggested last night, Henry was confused but shrugged it off. We packed the kitchen with new pots and pans and food as well, put towels in the bathrooms hung up curtains and placed other little decorations around the place. After about three hours, it was done.

"This place looks great you guys!" Henry says looking around. "Yeah it does, wanna call your parents to come check it out?" John asks me as I pull out my phone. 19:03.

"Alexander! What's up?"
"We just finished the apartment, wanna come check it out?"
"Of course, what's the address?"
"25 Lincoln Street, apartment 27, fourth floor."
"Great, we'll be over in 20 minutes."

"They're on their way." I say putting my phone down. "Your parents?" Henry asks and I nod, "What about the guys? Should I call them too?" John asks, "I think Peggy's on a date." I reply, "I'll tell them to come once Peggy is back." he says calling Hercules.

"Hey dude."
"The apartment is done, is Peggy on a date?"
"Yeah, okay."
"When she gets back you can come over, the Washingtons are gonna be here in a few minutes so-"
"Yeah."
"Don't say that! She's 17!"
"Yeah but that's different!"
"Because... I don't know it just is!"
"Okay what ever."
"Yeah, bye."

"Wanna order food?" he asks after getting off of the phone and I nod.

The door knocks and I open it to be rammed into by Bella, "Alexander!" she yells and hugs me, "Hey, Bella." I say hugging her back. I move aside for George and Martha to come in, "Oh wow, this place is gorgeous." Martha says looking around, I stand up.

"Henry doesn't know either of us are gay." I whisper to them and they nod, Henry walks over, "Hi there, I'm Herny Laurens, John's father." he says shaking George's hand. "George Washington, this is my wife Martha and our daughter Bella." George says shaking his hand back.

"I wanna see your room!" Maria yells running up to John and jumping into his arms, "Hi!" she says hugging him. "Hey Bella, how've you been?" John asks walking down to the bedrooms.

The door knocks again and I answer it, it's the food. "We got Chinese, is that okay?" I ask and George nods. "That's a lot of Chinese food honey." Martha says, "Yeah, the guys are coming over after Pegs gets back from her date." I say.

I put most of the food in the fridge and bring a few boxes back to the table, "Your room is so nice Alexander!" Bella says coming out of the room. "Glad you like it." I say as she jumps up onto the chair.

"You want some food?" I ask and she nods, I put some on a plate and she eats it. "Hey Alex, can you come over here quickly?" John calls from our room. I go over to him and he shuts the door.

"Yeah what's up-" I ask and he kisses me passionately. "What was that for?" I ask, "Nothing, I just needed that." he replies. I kiss him on the neck and he hugs me tightly. "Okay we should go back out before your dad gets suspicious." I say and he nods opening the door.

"So you teach at the university?" Henry asks George as we walk back out into the lounge, "Yes, History." George replies. "And you're Alexander's father, you must be so proud." George nods, "Believe me, I am." he replies.

He turns to me, "Son, have you told him about last week? Or November last year?" he asks. I immediately turned around and walked away. "Alexander, come back!" John says walking after me, he catches me in the hall and grabs my wrist, I try my best not to pull it back out of pain, "Oh! I'm so sorry!" he exclaims letting go, "No! It's fine!" I say.

He takes my hand and pulls up my sleeve, "I thought you said you were gonna stop." he says gently running his fingers over the small cuts. "I'm sorry..." I say quietly. "When did you-" "During class... I share like three of them with Jefferson."

He pulls my sleeve back down and squeezes my hand, "Promise me you'll try and stop." he says and I nod. He hugs me and I kiss his cheek.

We walk back out into the living room, "You okay honey?" Martha asks and I nod. "So what about last week and November?" Henry asks looking at me. "I almost died." I reply. He looks at me surprised, "Twice?" he asks, "Yeah."

"Wow. Last week?" he asks, I nod. "Wow, what happened?" he asks, "He got Yellow Fever and he refused to go to the hospital so we ended up waiting until he passed out and took him to the hospital while he was unconscious." John says putting his hands on my shoulders.

"Oh wow, that's hectic." Henry says. "Yeah, worst part is that he knew what was wrong and just refused to get help." George adds and I turn around and drop my face into John's shoulder. I actually don't care how gay it looks I'm not moving.

He wraps his arms around me, "Well you're not dead. That's what matters." he says and Bella hugs my leg, "Yeah!" she says and I kneel down and hug her properly.

The door knocks again and John goes to open it, "Oh hi!" he says moving aside and the group walks inside. "Oh... Oh Alexander this place is beautiful!" Eliza says looking around. She runs up to me and hugs me.

"Oh wow. This place is really big." Laf says as he enters, "You gave me up for this place?!" and that's when Peggy enters with Maria behind her. "Oh wow." she says, I look up confused, "Uhm, hey?" John says also confused.

"Right, sorry guys, they dragged me out with them." Maria says, "Hamilton, Laurens, this place is gorgeous." she finishes. "Thanks Lewis." I reply walking to the fridge getting out the Chinese. "I'm guessing you two are full?" I ask, "Are you kidding me? I could eat Chinese forever! Give me some!" Peggy yells and I put the food in the microwave.

They all start walking around looking at the place and the sisters and Maria sit with Bella and Martha and talk with them. Henry decides to occupy himself with Lafayette, Hercules and John as they try their hardest not to do anything suspicious. I sit back down with George, "So, you moved in with your boyfriend. That's a big step." he says taking a sip of his beer.

"Are you trying to scare me out of it? Because it's not working." I reply and he laughs, "No, I'm proud of you." he says and I look at him surprised, "You've come so far in life! Look at where you are, and then look at where you started. The fact that you're alive is a miracle, you're so stubborn I doubt I'd be able to talk you out this anyways, so I'm not going to. It's your decision and I respect that."

"Cheers to that!" Herc yells holding up a beer looking at me, clearly hearing what George said. They all hold up their drinks. "Agreed." Angelica says kissing me on the cheek. "Just stay alive, that would be enough." John says side hugging me handing me a beer, "Drink it, it's not going to kill you."

We spend the rest of the night just chilling together in the apartment, this has actually been wonderful. And by the time everyone has left, Bella fell asleep and we all have school tomorrow, John and I were so tired we decided not to have sex tonight.

"Come here!" John whines pulling me into him as I climb into bed, "Warm." he mumbles as I bury my face into his chest, "Night night baby, I love you." he says kissing the top of my head, "I love you too baby." I reply as we fall asleep.
