Harry's POV
The past few weeks I had been crashing at Jade's apartment and watching Kiara to pay for my stay. But now I was heading back to the states for a quick stay because my sister was leaving for California and I had to persuade Charles to go with her. Harrison was holding him back from his dreams and Harrison didn't even realize it. At least I had the balls to reach for mine.
"You leaving?" Kiara asked me as I packed my bag back together.
I smiled at her eating her mac 'n cheese I made. "Yeah as soon as your mom gets home."
"I like having you here. Can you stay forever?" she shoved a forkful into her mouth as she swung her legs in the tall chair.
I walked over to her and sat next to her. I ate the rest of my bowl and answered her, "What if I move across the hallway?"
"But you won't live here?"
"But I'll be across the hallway to watch over you and your mom."
"But why can't you stay? Do you not like my mommy?"
I sighed and didn't know how to explain this to a little girl, maybe I just needed to simplify what I know. "Well, your mommy and me are just friends. And, if I move in across the hall way, it'll be just like I moved into a different room, except for when mommy gets annoying and doesn't want to watch cartoons anymore you can come watch them with me instead, because I like cartoons!"
She laughed and smiled with the fork in her mouth.
"Does that sound like a good plan?" I smirked at the little girl. She nodded her head and I heard Jade putting the key into the door to get into the apartment.
"HARRY'S MOVING IN ACROSS THE HALLWAY!" Kiara screamed excited with our new plan and ran to hug her mom.
She looked up at me and rolled her eyes.
"Don't tell her our plan," I picked up Kiara and she zipped her lips shut and threw away the key over her shoulder just like I taught her. I laughed and smiled at Jade and she took Kiara from me and put her down on the ground.
"Has she eaten?" Jade asked as she walked into the kitchen following Kiara.
"Yeah, Harry made macaroni."
"Thanks," Jade smiled at me and I said my goodbyes before I left. The plane ride over was longer than I remembered and I got a taxi back to my cottage.
I shook my curls out and the mosquito's were a nightmare as I walked along the small path of gravel. When I opened the doors to my cottage, I sat my bag down on the couch and then looked around. What the fuck? Am I in the right cottage? The kitchen was done with stainless steel appliances and new cabinets and counter tops. I went to the living room I had just been in and there was a new leather couch pushed up against the wall and a pretty artsy picture hung above it making the blue wall paint stand out against the earthy tones in the painting. The usual musty smell was replaced with mint and that's when I new Callie had been the one behind it.
I hurried to my bedroom and my bed was made and her journal I had once stolen lay on the edge of the bed. I went to it and sat on the ground as I put my head in my hand and read through her life before she met me and after she met me. My heart pounded and my hands shook as I flipped through the pages at all hours of the night and as soon as I got to the last page there was a note for me.
Harry,
I hope you aren't mad at me for what I did to your cottage. My plan was to destroy it the night you left me. But, I don't think I could begin to destroy a place that meant so much to me and so much to you. Here I leave you some memories I will never forget with you. They're all documented in the book and I hope you one day begin to fill some pages of your own out.
