"Zaraa? Jackson? Here is your lunch and dinner. Oh and also some snacks to keep you energized through the trip."

Aunt Kass handed Zaraa and Jackson a fistful of plastic bags filled with containers of steaming food. They grinned thankfully, as they stood at the front door, ready to depart.

Carmela was leaned on the wall with crossed arms. Am I actually gonna stay back? Whatever. It was only for a couple of more days, since Aunt Kass wouldn't stop begging to spend time together.

"Thank you so much, Isa. You seriously didn't have to, we always stop for food on the way--" Zaraa began.

"Nonsense! How could I let you eat that dirty junk when I have these two hands to make nice meals for you? Besides, I took a week off from work for a reason!" Aunt Kass grinned.

Carmela stepped forward.

"I'm gonna miss you guys. Drive safely, okay?" Carmela said, putting a hand on Zaraa's shoulder.

"Aw! I'm gonna miss you like crazy, babe! You better hurry and come back to me!" Zaraa gushed, hugging her friend for a brief moment.

"And me! Let's see eachother as soon as possible." Jackson said, wrapping Carmela in his arms.

She felt sort of awkward in his hug. But accepted nicely, before withdrawing.

"Alright, so I guess we're off." Jackson said, turning around.

"Bye now! Drive safely, take turns, eat well, sleep comfortably and BE SAFE!" Aunt Kass squealed as they exited the house.

"We will, Isa, don't worry about us!" Zaraa laughed.

"Bye!" Jackson waved his hand before the door closed.

And then Carmela and Aunt Kass were only left in the house. Aunt Kass hurried over to Carmela and grabbed her by the hand.

"Finally it's just me and you, mija! Come! Let's eat lunch together!"

"But I'm not--"

"Don't you dare say you're not hungry. After all... I made your favourite!" Aunt Kass said, pulling Carmela to the kitchen.

Carmela sniffed and she shivered.

"Wait... you made... fajitas?" She asked slowly. Aunt Kass let go of her as they stepped in front of the kitchen counter.

"Yes! I know you love spicy chicken fajitas, so I made them just for you! Here they are! FAJITAS!" Aunt Kass smiled wide, her eyes bright. She gestured to a glass dish filled with the steaming chicken.

Carmela looked down at the food, her stomach churning. She chewed her lip, her mind wandering through countless memories, and looked away.

"Thanks, Aunt Kass." She finally said.

"Um... you're welcome, love." Aunt Kass said softly, with concerned eyes.

Carmela walked over to the living room in front of the dining table, and turned on the TV. The news channel flicked on as Carmela walked back to the kitchen, sitting down at the dining table. A couple of political stories and conspiracies played after each other, each story more dramatic and fucked up than the last.

Aunt Kass set down a plate full of spicy chicken fajitas in front of Carmela, and another one for herself in the next seat.

"Thank you." Carmela said as she stared down at the food, gulping. There was a knot in her throat as she tried to push back the persistent memories of a specific time she had eaten fajitas in this house. This is why she didn't want to come back here in the first place. Because she knew this would happen and she wouldn't be able to resist it.
