Chapter 16
And folks you just can't beat that... and you just can't beat Georgia Southern. And you ain't seen nothing yet.

I wake up the next morning feeling somewhat well rested. We got back from Caleb's house late last night. I brush my teeth and do my business before going downstairs to eat something.
Walking into the kitchen, I smell something delicious. I look up to see someone is cooking some pancakes, bacon, toast, and some crepes. Walking silently behind them, I peek over their shoulder at what he is flipping. He turns his head to see me and jumps a little, making the food he was trying to flip in the pan, fly up and get stuck on the ceiling.
"Man, that looked like a good one too." I say backing away to grab a step stool. "So we aren't going to talk about how you just scared the living shit out of me?" The guy says. I shake my head. "Not until I make one of the guys eat this ceiling pancake. I mean, it still looks good, so you won't be able to tell the difference, but maybe I should throw it into the yard before making them eat it. Hmmm, decisions decisions." I say to myself, but the guy manages to hear it.
"What makes you think they are going to care what happened to it or not?" He asks. I shrug. "Yeah, that's what I was just thinking. It's too lame for me. Ehhh, maybe next time." I say getting off the stool with the pancake in hand. I walk over to the garbage and throw it away. Finally turning towards the guy and looking at him. "Oh, good morning Ace. How was your night's sleep?" I ask. He looked at me dumbfounded that I just talked to some random stranger for about 10 minutes and didn't even care.
"Wait hold on, you were talking to me, but you didn't know it was actually me? What if it was some random person in your house trying to poison you or kill you?!" He all but shouts. "Hey! No need to shout, I'm still a little out of it from sleeping, but to answer your question, I would've felt that something was off from the beginning." I tell him, making my way to set the table.
He sighs and makes another pancake as I work around him to get some silverware, plates, and glasses. "By the way, when did you get all this food, because I don't remember having pancake mix and fresh fruit in my kitchen." I turn to Ace once I'm done with setting the table. "I couldn't sleep most of the night, so this morning I went to the store and bought all this stuff to make a big breakfast before we got on the road." He shrugs, putting the food on the table. "Should we wake them up first or eat?" I ask him, eyeing the food.
"With the way you look at the food, I'm going to say eat first." He says chuckling to himself. I nod briskly and grab my glass to fill it up with water.
Sitting back down, I grab my plate and put some crepes on it, toast, and some bacon, feeling really hungry. I dive into my food like there's no tomorrow, shoving food into my mouth. Ace just looks at me. "Are you alright? Do you need a bigger mouth?" He asks a bit concerned on the first question, then chuckles on the second one when he sees me nod.
"This is some good food. I mean, I never usually eat in the morning, but this is really making me want too." I say after swallowing and drinking some water. "Glad you like it. I'll keep in mind that you like my cooking. Not everyone is so lucky to eat it." He chuckles to himself again. I nod and we continue eating.
About 15 minutes later, about half of the food is gone and our plates are in the dishwasher. "I should've made more food, they're going to be pissed that they have that much food left." Ace says shaking his head while smiling to himself. "Oh well, sucks to be them. They weren't down here when the food was still hot and good. Now they have to deal with cold, hard food. It's not our problem if they thought sleeping was the better choice, it just means more for us." I smile at Ace.
