Chapter 26
Remember me and smile, for its better to forget than to remember me and cry.
- Dr. SuessIt's been a week. A week of planning out the possibilities and not being able to sleep well. Today is the last day before we start the plan, and I finally got a good sleep last night. Sleeping next to Ace eased my mind and let me sleep. Waking up, I feel his fingers tucking a strand of hair behind my ear.
Groaning, I open my eyes and look at him. "Why are you up this early?" I ask him, smiling. "It's almost noon. You've been sleeping the day away, but I don't blame you. You've barely gotten any sleep this week. You need as much sleep as you can get." He says, wrapping his arm around my waist and pulling me closer.
"Oh." I say, showing him a shy smile. He chuckles at me. "Yeah, oh." He says as look up at him.
Staying there for a few minutes, I start feeling like I need to go to the bathroom. Trying to wiggle out of his hold, he looks at me strangely.
"What are you trying to do?" He asks me, looking at me questioningly. "I need to go to the bathroom, and your gorilla arms won't let me move." I moved around in his arms when I said that. He laughs at me. "Alright, alright. I'll let you go, but get dressed along with that. I'm taking you out today, to spend one last day together." He says, getting up and hugs me before leaving the room.
I grab some clothes and head towards the bathroom, doing my business, taking a shower, and brushing my teeth and hair. After getting out of the shower, I pull on one of my favorite loose crop top, some nice, lightly faded blue ripped jeans, and some tennis shoes. I dry my hair a little bit before putting it in a loose fishtail braid.
I walk downstairs to see the boys sitting on the couch, watching some football. "Who y'all going for?" I ask, leaning on the back of the couch. The TV was showing the Ravens and the Vikings playing against each other. "We're split down the middle, they," Lee points at Jay and Ace. "are going for the Ravens, but we," He points at himself and Zack. "think that they are going to lose." I nod my head and watch a little bit of the game, before telling them my opinion.
"The Ravens are going to win." I say, getting up from the back of the couch and head towards the kitchen to get something to drink.
"How, the Vikings are dominating them right now." Zack asks, looking at me disappointed that I didn't choose the Vikings. "That's right now. You never know what is going to happen later in the game. I mean this game just started." I say, coming back out into the living room.
Ace gets up and we both move towards the door. "We'll be back later. Don't kill each other when we're gone." He says before shutting the door behind him.
"You think they are going to kill each other while we're gone?" I ask him as a joke. "They might, you never know with them. They fight over their own food, so I wouldn't be surprised." He shrugs before opening the door to the Audi.
"After you." He says, bowing slightly. I nod my head smiling before getting into the car. I hear the door close after me. Watching Ace briskly walk in front of the car, I put my seat belt on while he gets in the driver's side. I hear him put his seat belt on before starting the car and backing out.
"So, what did you have in mind?" I ask after a few moments of driving. "I'm not going to tell you, but I will tell you that the place I'm taking you only happens today, once a year." He says. I nod my head and look out the window.
It's silent throughout the short car ride, but in no time, Ace is pulling into a parking lot and turning off the car.
"Where are we?" I ask, still looking out the window. I see a bunch of cars and people walking to the entrance of something.
