Chapter 17

No matter how much suffering you went through, you never wanted to let go of those memories.
- Haruki Marakami

^her parents house she used to live in in Georgia

I see a little girl. She's around seven, with long brown hair with little highlights of blonde in it. She's in a pastel pink dress with sandals on her feet. She is running around the park with a boy. He's a little bit taller than her, but he looks the same age.

They laugh, joke, and play. They tell each other secrets and have playdates every other weekend. Their parents never knew each other before these two children met, but they get along like they have for years.

A few years pass and the girl is now having, or is at, a birthday party. She's excited and happy with all her friends surrounding her. Her parents are there too. Her father with a big smile on his face and her mother with a camera in her hand taking pictures to remember this happy time.

It looks like there is another kid, that looks like her father, there too. They almost look identical. He has a hat and button on his shirt saying "Birthday Boy!!" His smile is wide as he grabs his present from the girl, who had it in her hands the whole time. The little boy shakes it while holding it up to his ear, smiling. He says something into the girl's ear, making her laugh. I smile, even though I can't hear what he said, I still feel a surge of happiness.

He begins unwrapping the present, throwing the wrapping paper everywhere around him. Finally getting to his actually present, he pulls it out. In the box was a statue of a surfer. The boy seemed to really like it because he is smiling widely at the girl and jumps up to hug her tightly.

Years pass by and the girl looks like she is just starting highschool. She looks so different from her younger self. She still has brown hair with blonde highlights, but her blue eyes pop out against her fair skin and hair. She looks like she has makeup on, which is done really well.

She walks with confidence, but it looks like she is preparing for something to happen. As she walks down the halls, there's no students. Either she is late or she is still there after school. I feel like the latter is correct. Soon enough, I see her walk into a classroom grab something and walk back out. It looks like she is carrying some sports gear. Like a baseball bat, or maybe a softball bat.

She continues her walk towards a door. She pushes it open and steps into the sunlight. In front of her is a softball field next to a baseball field. It looks like players on the softball team are practicing and warming up right now. She smiles and heads over to a changing room. She comes back out wearing a matching uniform like the girls on the field. Walking towards the field, she is greeted by many people. She looks like she knows most of them.

Getting on the field, the players rush towards her with excited smiles. She must be their captain. She joins them in stretching and warming up, but soon enough the game starts. She plays really well. She is obviously better than her teammates, but that's what encourages them to become better too. She leads the team with respect to her teammate. They're almost like her family. The game goes by, and it's now the last quarter of the game. She's up to bat and she only needs one run to win the game.

The pitcher starts her round up, and she gets ready to swing if it's good. The pitcher releases the ball and fortunately for her, it's the pitch she loves. She swings, on time with the ball, and hits it precisely smack dab in the middle. She pushes the ball outwards with so much force, and completes the swing and drops the bat behind her. Before it even touches the ground she is off. The ball is still flying higher in the air with great speed. She is now rounding second and is coming to third quickly. The ball looks like it is out of the field. She keeps running, not looking back once. She sees her teammates gathered at home plate, so she slows down and hogs through the base, everyone taping her helmet saying something to her and cheering in victory.
