I had been tossing and turning all night, there was something so weird about sleeping on my own. I got up from bed, heading into the kitchen.
When I got there, Chris was already starting to make himself some hot chocolate in the kitchen. "Hey, Ana. Shouldn't you be asleep?" he frowned, getting a second mug out of the cupboard.
"Yeah, I couldn't. I know it sounds stupid, but I've recently been feeling... lonely" I shrugged.
"Didn't you say something the other day about starting to date again? You know, finding someone?" he asked as he sat next to me on the couch, "We've been here for over two years, maybe it would be nice to get back out there"
I nodded slowly, "I guess I could, but everything's too hectic. We're dealing with this Wild Hunt thing and I don't want to drag anyone into this world"
He sighed, "Just let me know if you need anything, okay?" He pressed a kiss to my forehead before going back to his room, "Try to get some sleep. Love you"
I went back into my bedroom, noticing a piece of paper on the floor. I smiled when I picked it up, looking at the picture. It showed Malia, Lydia, Scott and I on a bench outside the school. There was something strange about it, there was a gap between Scott and I, and my head was leaning quite far to the right. I've never posed like that in a photo, it was as if I was leaning on something. But there wasn't anything there.
My eyes scanned the other pictures, landing on a strip from a photo booth. I was alone, making all of these funny faces completely on my own. I glanced at the home screen on my phone, seeing a selfie of myself. I had never done that before, I hated taking pictures of myself. It made no sense.
As I put the picture on my board with the others, I saw something on one of my hands. There was a silver ring on my left hand. It was simple, just a silver band that had been tied in a knot. The dim light illuminated it, making it shine brightly. It was shiny, brand new.
I frowned, I didn't even remember buying the ring, I didn't even remember putting it on. It was as if it had just... appeared.
(A/n: this is the ring)

The bell rang and I quickly took my seat in the back of the class. I frowned, glancing at the empty seat next to me. "I'm impressed with most of you," Ms Fleming sighed, grabbing my attention, "It really speaks to your study habits and your commitment to your own education. Everyone else, see me for extra help.
Malia growled, clawing at the underside of her desk when she saw the D minus on her paper.
"Ms Fleming!" Lydia said, trying to get the teacher's attention away from the angry girl.
"I already told you, Lydia, I don't give extra credit for alternate equations based on your own theoretical findings" the woman replied. I rolled my eyes.
