We were sat with my uncle outside Gerard's Armoury, waiting for the all clear. I checked my phone, seeing a text from Liam. "It worked," I told the others, "Liam and Theo are at the zoo now"

Malia huffed and undid her seatbelt, "It's about time"

"Wait" Scott called, making us all go silent.

The werecoyote's eyes went wide, "I hear them too"

"Hear what?" Lydia frowned.

"Heartbeats"

My uncle turned to me anxiously, "How many?"

I strained my ears, counting each one, "Ten?"

"More"

"Are we breaking in or not?" Lydia asked.

Chris sighed, "Not. The armoury should be empty by now.

Malia scoffed, "We can take down a few hunters if we have to"

"We're dealing with a dozen well-armed hunters who have orders to kill you on sight"

We all looked around at each other and Malia frowned, "Then how are we supposed to get inside?"

Chris anxiously looked around before starting the ignition. Malia forwards and turned it off again, ignoring the exasperated look he gave her, "Gerard thinks we're gone, it's a good plan"

"It's our only plan"

"And it's not working" Chris snapped.

Malia sighed, "We can still do this! Let's vote"

Scott looked hesitant as he shook his head, "Guys, we just need to give Liam and Theo more time"

Chris checked his watch, "We have ten minutes. Ten minutes before Gerard's people flag this vehicle. Once that happens, we'll be seen as a potential threat"

"Then what?"

"They'll pay us a visit"

I frowned, watching Lydia reach towards the windshield. "Lydia, are you okay?" I called to her.

She gasped and span around to look at me, "Yeah, I think so"

"We should call off this mission" Chris reached for the keys, pausing when Scott spoke.

"Brett and Lori are gone, and Jiang and Tierney are still missing. Gerard's always one step ahead of us. We have to do this now"

My uncle sighed, still eyeing our surroundings, "We're too exposed, Scott"

There was a pause before Malia shrugged, "You said we had ten minutes"

He checked his watch again, "Nine"

Scott tugged at the door handle, "What are you doing?" I asked.

"I'm gonna lure them away so that we can get inside" he said. Malia pulled his hand away from the door and locked it, he huffed, "We need a new plan"

"Not a dumb one"

He shrugged, "I'll bring the thermite charges"

I shook my head, "We need them for the armory"

"The explosion will buy you time, but not enough to get in and out safely" Chris explained.

"Guys..."

"How about using the tunnels?" I suggested.

He sighed, "We could get underneath the building, but we'd still need to sneak in undetected"
