I sighed, trying to focus on taking notes as I sat in AP Biology. I glanced at the empty seat next to me. It was strange, knowing that Theo was gone but not being able to say anything. As far as everyone else knew, he was missing and definitely not in hell.

"The Corpus Callosum is not only the largest white matter structure in the brain, but also the bridge connecting all parts of the brain to each other," Mrs Finch explained to us, "That ability for all parts of the brain to communicate, and to work together, help us make leaps in cognitive thinking. Any questions, thoughts, insight? Lydia?"

The girl, who had been staring out of the window, suddenly looked back at the teacher. She stammered, "Uh, I completely agree"

Mrs Finch nodded, "Is there something outside that's more fascinating than the structure of the human mind?"

"No. I don't think so. No"

"Okay, good," the teacher headed back to the board, "Now, many people credit the Corpus Callosum for giving us a sense of intuition, gut instinct, even we ourselves aren't aware-"

Lydia suddenly stood up, "I'm sorry, I'll be right back" she grabbed her bag and ran out of the room.

Scott and I immediately got up, "We're just gonna check if she's okay" he told the teacher before we followed the girl.

"This is your vehicle?" I heard the tow-truck driver scoff as he looked Lydia up and down. They were stood next to an awfully familiar light blue jeep.

"Does it matter?"

He laughed, "Sounds like a no"

Scott and I rushed over. The boy placed a hand on the car, "It's mine. Uh, my jeep. Thank you, I'll move it once I get the keys... from my locker. After you leave"

We all gave the man sweet smiles, hoping that he'd be nice about it. He shook his head, "I'm sorry, once it's on the hook..."

"Please don't say 'You're on the hook' " I groaned.

"Well, I can't now"

Scott approached the man, "Okay, look, there's gotta be something that we can do. Sign something? Call someone?"

Lydia nodded, "Pay someone?"

The man grinned when he heard that word, "Drop fee's a hundred and fifty. Cash"

"A hundred and fifty?" Scott whispered to us as we searched our purses, "This thing isn't even worth that much"

"How much have you got?" Lydia asked him.

He frowned, "How much have you got?"

She rolled her eyes, "Just give me your money"

The boy sighed and dug his hand into his pockets, "All I have is fifty dollars. And when I say 'all', I mean all"

Before he could say anything else, Lydia took the fifty dollars that each of us had and gave it to the man.

"Hey," Scott said to us, "You know I don't actually have the keys to this thing, right?"

"But now we have a jeep" I shrugged.

Scott and I met in one of the empty hallways, looking around in confusion for the source of the shrill buzzing sound. "There you are" Malia said as she approached us.

"You heard it too?" I asked.

"Where's it coming from?"

Scott began to walk off, "This way"

We rushed out of the school, seeing Lydia stood in front of the jeep.

"It's coming from inside" she told us, staring nervously at the vehicle.
