"We're here." Nadech said upon seeing the familiar view of the alpine meadow. Yaya stopped the bicycle and waited for Barry to get down from the bicycle first before getting down herself. They were still inside the village but this place seems isolated. There aren't any houses around. The colors of the flowers made it lovelier, it was overlooking the stream below.
Seeing a lone tree with a shade. She made her way there and sat herself on one of the big trunks protruding outside the ground. Breathing in the scented breeze, she smiled at how peaceful her heart is. It was like she wants to take on the world, as if she is ready to forgive and forget all her past heart aches and just let go of her limitations.
Nadech followed after her but keeping a short distance away, not wanting to disrupt her from taking in the view. This place holds a special place in his heart, now it has become more extraordinary.
"I went here once." Barry voice beside her, standing from a distance. Looking at the view that witnessed his loneliness a few years ago. "When I turned 18 they sent me here in Switzerland on a 3 day trip as a gift. It was the only time they let me out of Japan. It was the first time I felt freedom since they kept me inside the mansion when I was adopted. " Barry narrated having a small smile on his face reminiscing his memories in this exact spot.
"I escaped my bodyguards, stole a bicycle and ended up here. I promised myself that someday, I'd bring you to this place. So when you mentioned that you wanted to go to Switzerland. I thought of this." He continued and took a glance at Yaya.
He walked in her direction and took a seat beside her. Looking ahead at their shared view. Yaya was looking down at her feet, listening to him quietly.
"When my parents suddenly died when I was 20, it caused a war in the clan. A traitor killed my adoptive parents and I had to search and lay down a punishment. " Nadech took Yaya's hands in his hold and intertwined it with his. Yaya squeezed his hand, a gesture telling him to continue his story.
This was it. Yaya thought to herself. They were finally going to talk.
"After 2 months of handling the organization, I went to Thailand, to look for you." He paused to stroke her knuckles tenderly. Readying his words, his confession.
Yaya felt her heart beat increasing each second. Her eyes focused on their intertwined hands.
"I found you a week after that night. I was following you every day but I couldn't approach you because it was dangerous... My father's enemies were searching for me and if I approached you, you might be in danger. So- I watched you from afar not quite content with the distance. " He paused again, taking a deep breath before continuing. Slightly squeezing her hands to gain some confidence.
"I-I watched you grieve for days when she died." He squeezed her hands again and looked at her, now trying to give her strength. "Then that night, I thought you were going to leave the cemetery when it started to rain heavily, but then there was thunder and you were crying the same words when we met at the orphanage. You-you were frozen in place and was about to faint when I got to you. " Yaya's breath hitched as tears fell from her eyes remembering that night. She pulled her hands out of his hold and turned towards him.
Nadech staggered thinking that she was angry about something he said. Then his heart stopped when she held his face in her hands, making him face her. She looked at his eyes, ready to bear her soul to the only person she deemed worthy of it. That night she was at her weakest, grieving for her mother and he was the only one who stood there who witnessed it.
He saved her again. The first time when she was 6 when her dad sent her away and second time when her Mother died and left her.
He saved her soul and and gave her Hope.
"I thought everyone left me. I thought I didn't have anyone anymore. I didn't know how to continue living because the last of my family died in my arms, the only person I considered my family had left me. " Yaya whimpered, every word she uttered piercing his heart, her eyes held the anguish she felt that night. "Then I heard your voice..." Yaya smiled a bitter smile.
"And then when I woke up the next morning with the necklace on and the letter on my pillow saying that you'll come back for me, I was so happy. I had hope. " He quickly wiped the tears off her cheeks but it's still continuously falling.
"But then after weeks of waiting, I felt down again, the grief I had was stronger than my hope. It made me question if you were even real... I couldn't eat or speak to anyone properly. Uncle Leo took me to France against my will, they didn't want to see me suffer anymore. " Yaya's sobs were getting uncontrollable.
"I wanted to wait more... I was holding on to your promise" She was full blown crying.Barry carried her and put her on his Lap, rocking them back and forth to calm her, ignoring the sharp pain that shot through his back. He didn't want to see her like this, he didn't want to see her suffering anymore.
"Why didn't you come back for me?" She sniffled against his chest, holding on to his coat tightly.
He held her tighter and apologized again and again. He didn't know how to make her feel better. All he can do is hug her tight and make her feel all the love he can give.
Nadech didn't know how to tell her. His reason may be a cause of more heartaches. But he has to. For the sake of both of them.
After a few minutes of calming her down, her silent sniffles are the only thing he can hear. He took her hand and kissed the inside of her palms before speaking.
"I planned to come back to you the next day because I wanted to show myself before I go back to Japan to handle my father's enemies. I didnt want to put you in danger. " He whispered to her as he kissed her forehead lovingly, still swaying both of them. Yaya looked up at him, confusion shown through her face.
He came back for her? She thought.
"Before I could even step outside the hotel building-" He hesitated at her anticipation, holding her cheeks affectionately.
"Before I could step outside the building I was shot in the parking lot."
"Wh-what?" She looked at him shocked at his words, quickly getting up from his lap. Yaya didn't want to imagine what he's going to say next. She slowly inspected his body, her heart beating fast.
"I was shot at the parking lot 4 times."
