Republic City High School (Modern life)

Chapter 1

This is a slow chapter just to get a feel for the school schedule and character introductions. It gets better once you get past the first 2 chapters! I promise!

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! CLICK! With a groan, a young teen rolls out of bed to get ready for school.

"UUGGGGHHH! First day of school, Let's do this," said the grumpy teen changing into her outfit for the day.

After getting dressed, she walks into her restroom down the hall to brush her teeth, straighten out her hair and do her daily morning routine. Once finishing in the restroom, she goes to wake up her little brother to get ready for school. After a couple hits with a pillow and a bribe to make his breakfast, the teen heads to the kitchen as her brother goes to the restroom. She gets some bread out of the fridge and some nutella from the pantry. Puts the bread into the toaster and as the bread toasts, she serves herself and brother something to drink. Her little brother comes into the kitchen as she's putting both nutella sandwiches on separate plates and handing him his plus his drink.

"You're the best sister anyone can ask for," the boy says with a big smile on his face.

She giggles and takes a bite out of her sandwich. Then checked the time, it was 7:08 and they had time before they needed to be at school.

"Hey you want to go pick up your girlfriend right now," asked the older sister.

He looked up with a light in his eye as he was eating saying,"Ruully! We--"

"Swallow first Kai!" The sister cut off and laughed at him. He swallowed and started again.

"Really! We have time to get her?!" Looking as happy and surprised as ever.

She nods her head and walks over to the family key holder to grab her keys to the car. Her brother jumped out of his seat, grabbed his backpack and headed to the garage with a skip in his step making her laugh from behind him. They got into the car and headed to Kai's girlfriend's house. Kai texted her on the way there that they were going to pick her up. They pulled up to her house and Kai got out to knock on the door, like a gentleman and because he knew he'd be sitting in the back. The door opened and his girlfriend came out with her dad.

"Good morning Jinora! Good morning sir," Kai said as he hugged Jinora and shook hands with her father.

"Good morning Kai! Taking Jinora to school today?" Jinora's father asked with a smile.

"Yes sir! If that's alright with you and your wife," Kai said politely with a smile, looking at Jinora and grabbing her hand.

Her father smiled at the couple then said," Son you can call me Tenzin, remember."

Kai looked back at Tenzin and said,"I know sir but my momma raised me right and to respect adults. Especially the ones of my girlfriend."

Tenzin smiled as Jinora blushed, squeezing his hand and looking away. Kai looked at Jinora with a smile then back at her father.

"I hope you can understand sir," Kai said sheepishly to Jinora's father.

He nods his head in understanding and says,"Very well. Off you go and don't cause any trouble. Kai's sister is incharge. See you later Jinora and it was good seeing you son."

"It was good seeing you too sir! Tell the miss I said good morning and thank you as well!"

"Good bye dad! Love you!"

The couple walked back to the car as Tenzin went back into the house closing the door behind him. Kai opens the passenger seat for Jinora and grabs her backpack to put it in the trunk with the rest of the bags.
