Chapter 6

'You're being attacked! Protect yourself!' I heard and immediately hit whatever hand was trying to hurt me yelling,"Don't touch me!"

I didn't recognize anything around me, there were people around but I couldn't tell who they were then a voice from one spoke,"Kai, you're safe. Can you listen to my voice?"

I tried to see who was talking to me, it sounded like my sister, Korra. She always protects me but I don't know if this is her. Then I saw someone crouched in front of me slowly moving their hand to mine. I hit the hand again yelling to leave me alone and then my chest started to hurt even more. "I can't breathe! I can't breathe..." I said aloud.

"Kai, breathe." the person said again, placing a hand on my knee.

"I...I..can't..." I said trying to catch a breath feeling my sweat roll down my face.

The person slowly went to grab my hand that wasn't clutched to my chest and before I could swat the hand away again the same person spoke again,"Kai, it's Korra, you're big sister." 'Korra!?' "Can I hold your hand please?"

"Korra..?" I said looking at the person who spoke and they nodded their head before slowly moving to hold my hand.

"Yeah bro, it's me. You're safe. You're with me, Jinora, Bolin and the others."

"I can't...My chest...I can't...breath..."

Suddenly my hand was moved and I felt someone's chest then their heart beat through my hand and Korra said,"Focus on the heart beat, just the heartbeat Kai."

I did as told and tried to focus on the beat as my breathing started to get better. My eyes stopped darting everywhere and I could finally see somewhat clearly as my breathing normalized and my body heat died down. I looked in front of me and saw Korra with a sweet but worried look with a smile. I jumped into her embrace, closing my eyes as she used one hand to hold me and the other racking it through my hair to calm me down.

"So what happened? Is Kai ok?" Bolin spoke up as he moved closer to us as I just dug my face into her chest not wanting to talk.

Korra responded,"He's ok now," as she kept petting my head.

"How'd you know he was having a panic attack?" asked someone who I summed was Asami before I fell asleep.

Normal POV

Korra looked down at a sleeping Kai before looking back at her friends who were all confused and worried about the two siblings in front of them. She knew they wanted to know how she knew he was having a panic attack and how to handle it.

Korra let out a deep sigh,"I'll explain after I put Kai down somewhere more comfortable," she said as she got up carrying Kai to the couch and laying him down then sitting next to him as he held onto her shirt unconsciously.

"What do you want to know?" Korra asked turning to her friends as they made their way closer to where she was.

Finally Opal asked again,"How did you know it was a panic attack?"

"Because I know the signs for them, hyperventilating, sweating, chest pain, trembling, dizziness, and others," Korra responded calmly.

"But how did you know how to deal with it?" Mako asked.

Korra looked down at Kai letting out a sigh contemplating where or not to tell them but decided it was best not to lie,"I know because I've had them as well."

"What!? When?" Asami asked, shocked and concerned.

Korra looked at her with a smile before looking down trying to think of a way to explain it then spoke up not lifting her head,"Back in 5th grade and sometime during sophomore year, it would occur when I had nightmares about getting beat up by Kuvira in 5th grade and then being jumped sophomore year."
