"Hello?"
"Good morning Asami, I hope I didn't wake you," said the mother through the phone
"No, I was already awake, what can I do for you?"
"Oh good and since Korra is staying with you we mailed her gift to your house."
"That's no problem! When will it get here?"
"It should already be there. Tell my baby, her parents say happy birthday and we love her very much."
Asami smiled and said she would before hanging up. Yes it's Korra's birthday and Asami already had something planned including the Krew. Asami went back to Korra's room to wake her up and be the first to say happy birthday to her. On her way she grabbed a small wrapped box she hid in the back of a bookshelf in the living room. She made her way to Korra with a smile before sitting on the edge of the bed close to the sleeping girl before placing a hand to Korra's face.
"Mm...hi 'Sami," Korra said snuggling into Asami's hand.
"Good morning Korra," she said as she rubbed her thumb on the girl's face. "I have something for you ."
"What is it?" Korra asked slowly, pulling herself to sit up against the headboard of her bed while rubbing her eyes to wake up with the back of her hand.
"Oh, just a small gift," Asami said, handing the small box.
"What is it? My birthday?" she teased before unwrapping the gift.
Asami rolled her eyes before watching her girlfriend unwrap her gift and lift open the top lid of the box. Korra's eyes lit up with a big smile as her eyes went from left to right back to left then to right again reading the text. Inside the box was a bracelet with two small flat rings linked together. One ring had tiny and small pearls on it with the other plain like wedding rings but much much smaller with a small chain. The text underneath it said "my girlfriend, I'm lucky to be in love with my best friend"
Korra looked up at Asami with a big smile then back at the box. She put to the side of her and pulled Asami into a tight embrace. Tears slowly made their way down Korra's cheek as she dug her face into Asami's shoulder. Asami happily returned the hug leaning on Korra's head that rested on her shoulder before she felt Korra pull away. Their eyes locked and Asami saw the tears rolling down her face. She placed a hand on Korra's cheek before leaning in to kiss the tears away and resting her forehead against Korra's.
"I'm lucky to be in love with my best friend too," she finally spoke, leaning into the hand on her cheek.
"You like it?"
"I love it! Thank you 'Sami," Korra said with a genuine smile.
"Of course love," smiling back at Korra.
KNOCK! KNOCK! Asami and Korra's heads shot to the open door where Kai was in his wheelchair smirking. They blushed before Korra said good morning to him and asked what he needed.
"Nothing. But if you love birds are done, I'd really like breakfast and a chance to give Korra my gift too." Kai said before rolling to the kitchen.
Asami laughs before getting up and fixing her pants and turning to Korra who was now sitting at the edge of the bed with the box in hand. Korra pulled the bracelet out of the box and held it in her hand with a big smile and noticed Asami kneel down in front of her. She was looking at the bracelet in her hand and took it, uncliped it and put it on Korra's wrist then looked up at her.
"I love it 'Sami. I'm never taking it off," Korra said, placing her hand on the bracelet now on her wrist.
Asami smiled brightly before standing up again. She told Korra to get ready and that she'd make breakfast before walking out Korra's room. Korra did as told and got ready and got her stuff ready before heading to the kitchen. She ruffled Kai's hair as he was eating and kissed Asami on the cheek before grabbing her breakfast and eating it.
