Her sandals tapped against the ground- obviously splattered with dreadful blood. She hurriedly shifted her feet through the ship. Forgetting everything she'll leave behind.
Pirates were scattered around like light weighted trashes, considering the fact they look like they haven't bathed themselves for a year or so already. Oops, that sounded rude, sorry.
Everything was in pure chaos. Kids run while wiping away the tears trailing down at their puffy cheeks. Women scream in horror, stumbling a bit as their feet run by at some of the fresh vegetables they offer at the market. Men would go either fight or hide from the pirates. And Jooyoung, well...
Jooyoung tried dodging the bullets, the cutlass, the daggers flying. But she is a medic student, not a martial artist or some, she couldn't just bust Bruce Lee or Jackie Chan mode, because she simply doesn't have that.
A scream of agony slips at her parted lips, as a machete slides across her thigh. The pang struck in a flash, then calms down for a bit, and then soon got irritated by the cold breeze of wind, making the pain more agonizing.
"raise the gangplank!"
Her head shakes in disbelief, her mouth utters out no in disagreement repeatedly as she heard that phrase. She needed to enter the ship, as soon as possible. The thin gangplank was sliding back to its respectable ship, quickly, as it was like a paper to hold on to.
Jooyoung's feet wiggled a bit, still feeling the aching cut by her thigh. Come on, come on... Those words repeated in her mind, forcing her feet to run faster. How unlucky of hers, she is such a snail in terms of running.
Her hands itched to grip at the gangplank. Lay the sole of her shoes on the rectangular wood. Step across it and enter the ship. But-
Aww.
Sadly, her fingertips could only touch it, brushing faintly against it. And even with the slow motion, The ship already made a huge gap between her.
Annoyed, she kicks the small pebbles out from the chaos, or just simply the debris. How come I couldn't do such a simple thing? With the feeling of disappointment, feeling that she should've done better than wiggling her ankles and bother saying sorry even to the pirates who blocked her way.
Her teeth grit with one another. Her hand clenches tightly, gripping at her hair, pulling it as if she wanted to rip it off from her head and turn bald. Stupid, Slow...
Her nostrils suddenly met the smell of burnt woods with a mix of fresh stenchy blood and wasted rum that clumsy pirates drop on their way through their precious ship- that lingered seconds after the pirates shifted their feet and welcomed them with disaster.
She looks back at her town, and indeed, everything was destroyed. With that, she realized that she isn't the only one living with a big boulder of burden. How come everything escalated so fast? She was just lurking her orbs at every detail of her little crush has, and now, everything was pulverized by Pirates who just happened to have sightseeing at their humble town.
Eunwoo? She didn't notice that she just asked herself. And like the cannonballs, the thought crashed at her like a bang. She searched for her Bestfriend.
She squinted her eyes as she feel them getting irritated by the smoke. The smoke was like a mist, covering the whole town with the shade of faint black. But even with the unclear surroundings, A veiny hand gripping at a thick red leather book caught her eyes. That hand is familiar- The Father of Eunwoo. She pushed the bricks away from him. Oh, no, not to save the man but rather, again, satisfy her fantasies. Yes, piracy knowledge. She grabbed the book, with such desperation. Clutching it tightly at her chest.
