"Pardon?" Jooyoung still got confused, though she expected it. Didn't Hongjoong want to kill the pirates? The way he clench his hands into fists that his knuckles turned scary white, the way he glare at them like he could kill them with only his eyes prying on theirs, the way he curse at them, or simply despise them, was kind of unbelievable for him to like pirates, or much, be the pirate king. "I wanted to be the King of Pirates." Jooyoung couldn't say a word anymore, she is really confused.
"Sorry, but come to think of it, you don't like them right in the first place." Jooyoung moved her body in front of the boy, who is daydreaming right now, or night... Hongjoong smirked, slowly shaking his head. His eyes bore into Jooyoung's. He told his little sister to sit and behave before explaining things to the other.
"in my opinion, pirates and royal navies are the same." how, why? Jooyoung wanted to say, but couldn't. She doesn't understand anything he says. "pirates and navies rule with iron fists." he brushed his soft gold locks, his lids closing slowly like he was in a sudden slow motion.
Jooyoung stared at him for a moment before contradicting his statement. "pirates and navies are indeed have similarities. But they don't rule with iron fists." Hongjoong snapped his head, looking at the girl— surprised by the sudden change of tone. "they rule in the name of democracy."
His lips slowly raise up, showing an adorable toothy grin. "You must've lots of knowledge about pirates. What if you join my crew?" he beamed a bright smile at Jooyoung. She could be a doctor, in a pirate ship, attack and find those pirates she wanted to. Isn't that a win-win situation already? But something bothered Jooyoung. "what will you do with your sister then?" his smile fades away, his eyes went down on his feet. "and besides," she looks around, even searching at the seas. "you don't even have a ship to sail."
"you are killing the mood, you know that?" Hongjoong pouted making the girl laugh. "I already have a plan." He muttered, his hand resting in his pocket, fiddling something in it. Jooyoung felt wrong, but right, wait what?! Hongjoong noticed a hint of confusion on her porcelain face.
Just before Hongjoong could speak another question, A faint growl was heard just beneath them. Yeseul rubs her tummy, pouting. "Hongie I'm hungry." he let out a chuckle and caressed her cheek before looking around. Destroyed houses, trees laying down on the streets, foods like vegetables and fishes scattered around. Looks like there is nothing to eat for them.
Hongjoong bit his tongue, thinking of the thought to go back to Seojun's house to eat or ask Jooyoung to cook. It's kind of embarrassing. He spoke by himself. He has been a big boulder burden to Jooyoung, so why not also treat her some. But I'm not a good cook. He mentally bit his nails.
A sudden clear of throat snapped him out of his rumbled thoughts. He thought it came from the girl, but it was from a familiar guy. His face was crumpled, obvious irritation lingering in it. "Seojun hyung wanted me to bring this for you." he raised a basket of french bread and a bowl of porridge.
Hongjoong chewed his lips, he bored his eyes to the other guy's. He couldn't see the glare behind those almond locks, but he could feel the burning anger of it. "I guess no, you... Seem to not like giving it." he forced a tight smile, his lips, and right eye twitching. The guy simply closed his eyes, pursed his lips, shook his head. "I am talking to the girl, not you." Hongjoong's smile dropped in an instant, feeling insulted.
Jooyoung flinched, and jerked her thumb at herself, she pulled a strand of her hair behind her deafened ear, before reaching out for the basket. "the little girl, I mean." Jooyoung straightened her body, glaring at the guy. How dare you made me— but she also thought it was none sense to rant. Yeseul smiled at the guy, making him also smile.
Jooyoung leaned in Hongjoong's ear. "I think he has some kind of interest in kids." and that made Hongjoong look at her in disbelief. Well, she has some point... From the way, he smiled only at the kid, the way he touched the little girl's hand... Hongjoong panicked.
He pulled Yeseul behind him and stood in a fighting stance. "what do you want from my sister?!" he shouts. The guy didn't flinch nor move even an inch. "I want to give the meal." he responded, bluntly. "are you sure about that?!" The guy tilted his head, seemingly judging Hongjoong for his sudden action. Didn't know Hongjoong is gullible... Jooyoung cursed at herself for insulting the guy, she's the one responsible for his now corrupted mind. The man carefully gave the bowl of porridge to the little girl, and let the basket of bread sit beside her. The man disappeared, not waiting for the 'thank you' of the three.
Yeseul grabbed Jooyoung's sleeve, her eyes were sparkling in such joy and plead. She raises the basket and offers it to the other girl. Jooyoung's lips curved, she couldn't help but smile, Yeseul is indeed a precious person. Hongjoong twisted his ankles and faced the older girl once again.
His hands reached for his nape, rubbing it ever so lightly, his eyes went little crescents because of the thought lingering in his mind. "I just pondered, I didn't get your name." Jooyoung also just noticed it. "Jooyoung, Kim." she offered a handshake, and the boy gladly accepted it. He huffed out a deep sigh before starting another phrase.
"well then, Kim Jooyoung, will you join my crew?" a cough unexpectedly came out from her lips, it's not that she is ill— it's just she choke on her own saliva. Her other hand raised up, covering her mouth. Why so sudden... She gained her posture back and tried reminiscing the question.
"no."
