Peter's Pov.
"U-um, yea-" I watched as the woman's eyes widened as she looked behind me
"M-mr. Stark! What are you..?" Her sentence trailed off as she seemed to try to piece things together in her mind, 'shi-ndiggotyfricketyfracketingfrickerfrackersticks' I cursed in my head as it was confirmed that Tony Stark, was indeed behind me."I, um, yes. I was just bringing up Mr. Parker here" he stated quickly from behind me, "He was just having some issues at the front desk, nothing his fault. So, um, I have some stuff that I need to do. So I'll be heading up soon." I sighed internally out of relief from this horribly awkward situation. "Hey, out of pure curiosity, what floor is this kid going to be working on anyway?" He asked nonchalantly and I felt that seething pit of nervousness ball up in my chest immediately. 'Oh, please no, please, please, please just say your not sure please give anything other than a straight answer-'. Oh, well for the most part He'll just be delivering coffee wherever it's ordered, but he should have his own office on this floor where he'll submit other's projects into the system." She said nervously, probably because of who she was talking to.
I didn't hear Mr. Stark say anything and my eyes were glued to the floor so he must've nodded, "Right, well then have a nice day," he stated somewhat awkwardly before I heard him walk away. 'At least she didn't give him the specific room number, oh who am I kidding, he's Tony friggin Stark how hard is it going to be for him to find it out?" I thought miserably to myself as the woman glanced back to me looking slightly winded.
She seemed to notice how miserable I was looking and tried to laugh it off to make me feel better, "Don't worry about that, no ones going to bite your head off for being a little late, and it wasn't your fault you were late so you shouldn't be in any trouble. As for Mr. Stark, I've heard about him coming down and embarrassing employees before, don't sweat it too much." Surprisingly enough it did make me feel a tad bit better that everyone else wouldn't think to much on it, I didn't need anybody asking questions, because I really did not need my anxiety skyrocketing right now.
"Anyway! Hi, I'm Maya Smith, and I'll be showing you around today!" She stated brightly and I was glad that she so easily droned on without requiring feedback. We walked through several floors where I met some other interns, goggled at several scientists behind glass, and actually saw the Bruce Banner. He had been getting coffee in a lounge area and I had stood there, like a complete idiot, and basically whispered "Your research on gamma radiation are amazing.." which, honestly is the most cringeworthy thing I have done since I came out to Ned and MJ. (Which is a story for later,) and that is saying, ALOT. I think I startled him though, and Maya had to drag me off so before I could give him a what would probably be a stuttering mess of an apology, I only got to give what probably sounded like a bit of a yelp in apology. I hope he isn't mad at me...
Anyway, as we returned to the fifteenth floor she walked me around, showed me how to work the coffee machine, and then walked me to my own little cubicle. It was bland, but I could take care of that later. There were two computers, a filing cabinet, and a collect of pencils markers and other utensils. (And two very conveniently placed electrical outlets, curtesy of the fact that a genius designed the building)
"Thanks Ms. Smith." I say quietly and she nods while smiling happily, "Well, I've got to go, so how's about you get yourself set up here, and check the computer for coffee orders and get that take care of, at 5:10 the other coffee kid will take your place and you can start on submitting the rough draft projects into the system. If you need any help, just Email me, I've already sent you an one via my work Email, so you'll have my address, you'll know it's mine when you see it." She said cheerily before walking off importantly.
As soon as she left I let out a huge sigh of relief and plopped down into the old skinny office chair and spun around for a few seconds to release a little stress, and than I pulled up the chair to the desk and started up the computer. The next hour or so went by fine as I delivered plenty of coffee to lots of floors and even introduced myself to some of the nice ones. One of them had this big bored up next to them chalked full of one huge equation, y'know, the regular tropish setting? Except not in Tony Stark's lab? Anyway yeah, I noticed that he seemed to be having some issues so when I walked over to him I asked him what was up and he ended up muttering something about it not working, I looked up out the board and thought aloud to myself "well the way you solved was technically correct, but there are two ways to solve it, I would've continued to simplified here instead of going ahead and making the whole thing simplified down a little bit, but both are mathematically correct even though the have two different outcomes.. I think at least, hey maybe- wait no," Peter went deep into though as he stated at the board for a few minutes before remembering that he still had coffee to deliver "Ah! Sorry for interrupting!" He said eyes widening a bit and then turned to run down the hall, he was in so much of a rush that he did not notice the slightly widened and calculating look the man had in his eyes and how they trailed after him when a look of realization dawned on his face.
