"Hyung!" Jinyoung turned around, smiling as he saw a ball of sunshine run towards him.
Youngjae had a beanie on today, his blue hair sticking out under it in cute small wavy locks and he was smiling widely, waving frankly at the older. So adorable for being someone who is a part of GOT6.
Wait. Did he just-
Jinyoung groaned, wanting to slap himself.
The younger stopped in front of him, eyes disappearing into crescents as he tilted his head in a silent question. Closing his locker, Jinyoung snorted under his breath at the energy Youngjae had and smiled.
"Hi Youngjae-ah. Let's go?" Nodding excitedly, the younger male grabbed his hand. He didn't notice as Jinyoung flushed- thank god- and tugging him along.
"How are you today? I heard you guys just finished a few pop quizzes and tests." The brunette hummed, remembering the lesson. If Jaebum hadn't been asleep beside him maybe he would have payed more attention.
Instead he was forced to wake the older up before he could get scolded. Jaebum had only blinked groggily and gave him a half smile before closing his eyes again, resulting in the brunette hissing at him that the teacher was going to notice. Then, in the end he got the older at least half awake for the rest of the lesson, barely listening to anything they were reading anyways.
He thanked himself for being smart enough to already know most of the things about the French Revolution and put a mental reminder to tell Jaebum they have a test on Friday.
"Yeah, we did finish a few. There's more coming this week of course but I'm keeping up. What about you, Youngjae-ah?" The younger pouted, looking like he was thinking. He still hadn't released the brunette's hand, which Jinyoung had noticed but didn't have the heart to tell him. It was kind of cozy-seriously, shut up brain!
"I'm trying the best I can, it's so hard with all the essays and assignments we have to do. I can't believe it's still just high school." Chuckling at that, he shook his head a the whining. But at least he was complaining a lot lesser than Yugyeom.
"Is anything troubling you these days?" He whipped his head to the side, staring widely on Youngjae who was looking at him with warmth and worry. He couldn't know, right?
Averting his eyes from the younger's gaze, he laughed nervously. "No, I'm fine. What makes you assume that?"
Beside him, Youngjae was tilting his head to the side, not saying anything about his reaction. The blue haired boy just squeezed his hand, secretly amused on how Jinyoung's ears reddened.
"You seem a little distracted lately. Almost like you are lost?" It sounded mostly like a question for himself and Jinyoung shrugged, this time meeting his eyes with confidence.
He couldn't let Youngjae know. He didn't even know how to explain his almost panic attack for Jaebum either.
Jinyoung didn't notice how the younger looked at him, eye twitching slightly at the faltering smile. He wished the brunette could tell him everything and let him take care of him.
"Hey, hyung. What about we play a game?"
A game? He wondered what the younger had in thought.
"I'll tell you something about me and you tell me something about you. Just to get to know each other better." He smiled brightly and Jinyoung found himself agreeing because why not? It was better than going around being anxious all the time.
"I'll begin, I have a dog named Coco." Ah, that he already knew. Remembering the first time he had met the pup, Jinyoung found himself giggling.
It happened when all of them wanted to hang out together and after strolling around in Seoul ( plus stopping Mark from punching an asshole in the arcade and trying to get Jackson to not scream bloody murder when he biking on maybe the crappiest bike he'd ever seen ) they had all been exhausted, choosing to crash in Youngjae's place.
To be honest, Jinyoung's house had been closer but he knew Yeji were having her girlfriends over, probably making out and note that he also almost caught Hyunjin sneaking out of his window to climb into Jisung's room. ( The younger had already wrapped his blanket over his head when he came into the room but forgot to close his window. Thankfully for him, the older didn't comment anything and just "woken" up him. )
But he didn't know what he had expected with thought on Wonpil and Seungmin living in the house on the left to them, Younghyun and Jisung on their right. Which also made him wonder how the hell Younghyun and Wonpil didn't start dating earlier, since they were neighbors and their brothers were childhood friends.
At least those three got together before their older brothers even confessed. ( Hush about him, he didn't want to hear anything about him dating anyone though he could agree with Jisung and Seungmin. Imagine watching your dumb oblivious brothers stutter around each other for years )
Anyways, immediately when Youngjae had opened the door, the white puppy came running towards them with a loud happy bark, first jumping in front of his owner, licking him sloppily in the face. Then, he had turned around to a laughing Jaebum before continuing to the other four.
By the time Coco noticed the unfamiliar scent, they were all already inside with their shoes neatly standing at the door and jackets hung up. He had excused himself and greeted, Youngjae giggling and telling him his parents were working. Since none of his family were home, they just barged into the living room.
Coco had been sniffing around his feet, letting out small barks as he kneeled down to pet him. Jinyoung laughed at the lick he was given, the fluffy dog pushing his head into his palm.
"I have three sisters and one brother." This time he let a smile sneak forwards, feeling relaxed as Youngjae bounced happily beside him.

In the end they spent the walk some talking randomly, Jinyoung laughing at Youngjae speaking English in a funny way. The younger had stopped in front of his house, pouting and after a few minutes of silence, he had asked if he could spend the night.
Needless to say, Jinyoung had been flustered but gave in anyways to Youngjae blinking innocently at him ( he's weak yes ). The younger met his parents as they came home, eating dinner with them as his mother constantly complimented his handsomeness and voice while Jinyoung tried to ignore the way his younger siblings snickered.
Even if he was flustered and a little bit frustrated on himself, he couldn't help to enjoy the cozy atmosphere. It was just something with Youngjae, being the sunshine he is. Jinyoung liked how he could be so comfortable around him and it fought against the person he was in school, though he couldn't care more.
It didn't really help after spending these months with GOT6. His friends said he changed but he was stubborn and no, he didn't love them more than brothers and friends.
Speaking of his friends, he prayed Wonpil wouldn't sneak into his room the next morning. For sure the brunette would be very vocal when he saw Youngjae in there. ( He's sleeping on the floor if you ask Jinyoung. )
That night, after they had brushed their teeth, both males continued to whisper to each other. And even if it was just small, meaningless conversations, that was all Jinyung needed.
His mind was blank from the past and every thought vanished as he listened to Youngjae talking excitedly. He felt safe, safe from Minjun, from his ex.
Jinyoung smiled, turning to face Youngjae as his eyes slowly dropped to slide into a dreamless night.
