Chapter 19: Big Announcements

Marco's eyes fluttered as he rose from his slumber. He rolled his head over to see his girlfrien- wait no, his FIANCÉ. Her body messily sprawled out on top of him
Her legs tucked under one of his, and her arms draped across his body.
Sure Marco may have needed to get up and take a shower, but he would hate to wake her, and honestly, he wanted to stay in this moment forever.

Their activities from the night before, clearly took a toll on her body, in the most delightful way. Usually Star was a heavy, rough sleeper. But right now, she looked delicate, and blissful, despite being all over him. The way the morning light emerging from the window hit her face. The shadows of the blinds decorating her skin.

Last night, after their escapade, they layed in the bed together and talked.
About the future. How they would announce their engagement to all their loved ones. Plans for their wedding. And their plans as King and Queen.

When Star woke up, she was greeted with a kiss by Marco. "Good morning sleeping beauty." He mumbled against her lips.

"Happy birthday! Again." She added

"Ohhh yes, a very happy birthday to me." He announced, booping his index to her nose.

"So, who are we gonna tell first?"

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARCO!" Yelled his parents as they pulled him into a giant hug.
"Sit sit, we made breakfast." Insisted Raphael as he guided Marco to the dining room.

"Hehee... thanks. But Um there's something I need to tell you...Something we need to tell you." He stated, pointing between him and Star.

"Well, honey, can't it wait till after breakfast? called his mom from the kitchen

Marco looked to Star for approval, she nodded with a small smile.

"Okay yeah. Sure."

"We heard a little noise last night, everything okay son? Star?" Asked Raphael

The couples eyes widened as they looked at each other both of their faces going pale and their blood dropping for a second.
"I thought u made the room soundproof " he mouthed to her, no words coming out
She shrugged.

"Um yeah what'd you hear?

"Foot steps on the roof maybe?"

The tension between the two released as they both sighed.

"Yeah we were up there for a minute." Marco stated with a chuckle as he rubbed the back of his head.

Angie and Raph walk to the dining room, both holding two plates each. One for each resident of the Diaz house.
On each plate, waffles and chorizo and eggs.
Star immediately began to dig into the meal.
The family looked at her and nodded in synch. And began eating, at a much slower pace than Star.

"Mmmm so what was it you had to tell us Marco?" Asked his mom with a mouth full of eggs

"Ummm..."

They looked at him, waiting.

"Ummm..."

Star now looked up at him, she gave him a grin and thumbs up before digging back in.

"Me and Star... Star and I... WE GOT ENGAGED LAST NIGHT!"

Clang! The sound of Raphael dropping his metal fork on the ceramic plate.

"Ahem..." Angie cleared her throat
"Engaged?"

Marco nodded.

"I mean.. we knew it was going to happen eventually, but why so soon, so... young?"

"Well that's the next thing we have to tell you. Star..." Marco looked to her.

"Oh right, well remember Eclipsa who came by when Marco lost his memories...well she's queen of Mewni now, anddddd she want to quit."

"Uh huh"

"And leave it to me, buuuut, in order for me to become queen, due to my age, I would need to have a king to rule beside me."

"Mmmhmmm"

"And you know, Mewni is already kinda familiar with Marco..."

"Oh, but... not trying to call negativity but what if you ... break up?"

"Simple, we both agreed that no matter what, we stay best friends, and that's never going to happen."

"Because of the..."

"Soulmate thing, right."

"Well, naturally, we approve." Adds Angie

"Ouuu, when's the wedding?" Bursts Raphael.

Mewni
"Happy birthday sweet boy, glad you could pay us a visit."says eclipsa as she playfully pinches one of Marco's cheeks.

"How's it feel being 18?" Asks Globgor

Marco looks to Star. "If feels, wonderful."
The two share a knowing look.

"What can we do for you today guys?" Asks Eclipsa.

"Oh we just came to let you know tha-"
"We got engaged!" Interrupts Star, and flashes the small diamond ring on her finger.

"Goodness dear, congratulations!" Says Eclipsa as she grabs stars hand to examine the ring. "Wait, does this mean?" She adds

"Yes mam, he agreed to it, and were on course to be married by my 18th birthday."

"That's excellent!"

"But uh.. earth weddings take forever to plan, so we were wondering, if we could...uh.. have it here?"

"Oh sweetie! Of course, let's start planning today and I'll have the royal servants begin the arrangements."

"Mom, Dad." Star begins to her parents
They're all sitting in a quaint living room in the former King and Queens yurt.

"Yes, what is it?" Moon asks while sipping on some fresh tea she made for everyone.

"Me and Marco, we got engaged!"

"What?! Why so-"

"Young, we know, but uh you haven't heard yet?"

"Heard what?" Asks Moon.

"Eclipsa is, stepping down and, she's leaving the throne to me."

Moons eyes widen. "Honey? Is this what you want? To be Queen, I thought.."

"Yes Mom, I think I do want to now, Eclipsa kind of convinced me, but anyways, Yeah, that's pretty much it."

"And Marco will be King?"

"Yup."

"Ahh congrats my boy!" Yells River as he pats Marco on the back.

Snake kingdom

"My queen, The girl, Star Butterfly, and boy from earth, are now engaged, they should be stepping up as king and queen any day now!" Says Darwin, nervously.

"Hmm, well." Queen Slitera flips a few pages in a book sitting in her lap, she taps her finger to a line of writing.

"If the role of Queen shall ever be appointed and not inherited, any Royal, or aristocrat of Mewni, may challenge the appointment with their own appointee." She recites from the book.

"Hmm, looks like they might have to delay their plans." She says with a devilish grin.
