Katniss POV-
"Peeta!" I screech as I leap over to his limp body.
I take his good hand in mine and he squeezes it weakly, mumbling my name.
"Peeta, you are going to be okay. Don't close your eyes." I cry loudly as nurses walk over and one pries me off Peeta's overly warm body.
"No! Let go of me!" I thrash in the male nurses arms as he pulls me away, kicking and screaming.
"Stop." The man says as if he's not scared of me. That's when I crane my neck over to his shoulder and attempt to bite him. The nurse throws me back and away into the waiting room, pissed.
"Ugh!" I scream loudly as tears pour out of my eyes.
"You need to calm down or we will have to call the police and have you escorted out." He says.
I cross my arms and walk over to the waiting room.
I take a seat in the ever familiar blue chair of the emergency room.
We've made so many trips here in the last year, it's unreal.
I sit in that little blue chair and sob for hours, worried sick about what could be going on behind those clothed doors.
Soon, that early morning turns to midnight and on to the next day.
They have given me no word on him.
Peeta could be dead and I wouldn't know but surely, no word is good news, right?
The hospital staff won't tell me anything.
'You're not family' they continue to tell me.
It frustrates me because I'm his fiancée and he's brought me here and I've brought him here before too.
They've given me information before and I don't care if it's set in stone or not, I am Peeta's family and he is mine.
Sure, I have my mother and Peeta has his family but his family doesn't even care.
I've called them all and none of them have shown up.
Not even his father.
They are the only ones who could actually get me information about him at this point.
I even took up calling Peeta's mom, she blew it off, of course. I begged her and nothing.
My mom would come, but she really can't and it's not like she could actually get me information about him, being she is not related to him but she did work with these people.
Maybe she could convince them?
I've never been so angry in my entire life with those who are suppose to love him the most but don't.
I don't understand why they won't let me see him or even give me information.
They did when I brought him in the first time for his fingers.
His fingers.
I've not realized until now that it was his fingers bothering him so badly that morning, he was in a lot of pain.
His body was hot to the touch.
His skin pale.
A rapid heart beat.
He was tired and the skin around his injury was red and swollen.
He has blood poisoning.
I'm sure of it.
Suddenly, I jerk up from the plastic blue chair that I've called my home for the last 24 hours and rush up to the nurses station.
"I need information about Peeta Mellark." I tell her.
It's a new nurse so maybe she will give me something.
Anything.
"Are you family?"
I nod my head.
"Okay, what's your relation?" She asks suspiciously.
"I'm his wife." I lie.
I'm almost his wife.
The old lady nods, "Okay and you're not lying?" She asks.
"I'm going to be his wife, please?" I give in.
"Ma'am-" I cut her off.
"Please? I need to know something, anything. I've been sitting in that uncomfortable blue chair for over a day and I don't even know if my fiancé is alive. I haven't slept and I want to know what's going on." I demand, at my point of rage.
The lady just shakes her head at me, "When the boss leaves in a few minutes, I will be glad to give you some information." She murmurs.
I wipe away a tear, "Thank you. I just need to know, I love him so much." I say as more tears stroll down my stained cheeks.
I'm at my wits end.
"I know, Sweetie. I can tell that you love him very much." She whispers with pity crossing her face.
I hate pity but if it gets me information about Peeta's condition, so be it.
I don't care.
I play it up more, well, it's not really playing since it's real emotion but it'll get the job done.
"I do. We've been together since we were in high school, we are getting married this April." I begin.
The lady frowns and nods and I start again.
"He's my best friend and I just really miss him. I'm used to seeing him every single second of each day and I haven't seen him since yesterday morning. He collapsed in front of me and they took him away. I'm a wreck, I'm sorry about blowing up." I murmur the last part.
The lady grabs my hand in her small wrinkly one, she pats the top. "Its okay, hun. I understand but you go try to get some rest and as soon as my boss leaves, I'll give you all the information you want." She says, smiling down at my two rings.
"Thank you so much." I whisper softly and wipe away another tear, just to seal the deal.
The lady smiles sadly as I walk back over to the stupid blue chair and I wait another thirty minutes before finding anything out.
