Katniss POV- (That night)

It's about 10:30pm.

I've been driving since 10-something this morning.

I decide to call Peeta before he goes to bed, though, I know he doesn't sleep much when I'm not home.

Same for me.

(On the phone with Peeta)

He answers the second ring.

"Katniss." Peeta says tiredly.

I smile sadly at his voice I've missed much, "Hi." I say softly.

Today, I really realized how stupid this whole thing was. Especially, after talking to Bristol.

Every bit of it.

How dramatic I was being.

"Where are you?" He asks me.

"I just left District Seven."

"Oh, you didn't stay with Bristol or Finnick?" He asks.

"No, I want to get home as soon as I can." I explain.

I hear Peeta sigh, "I want you to get home too." He says weakly.

I yawn, "I should be home sometime in the morning."

"You should really go get some sleep. I don't want you to wreck." Peeta says sternly.

"I'm okay, all I did at my mom's was sleep anyways. When I could."

"Oh." Peeta says softly.

"It's fine. You need to rest though." I tell him.

"I wish you were here."

"Me too. How are you feeling anyways?"

"Much better. I'm tired and still a little weak but I miss you."

"I miss you too. Listen, Peeta. I'm so sorry about all of this. Everything. I shouldn't have left." I admit to him.

"Katniss, you had every right to leave."

"Yeah, the room or the hospital but I shouldn't have left town."

"No, I hit you. I didn't realize what happened until it was too late. I don't know what I was thinking, it just happened and if I can help it, it'll never happen again." He assures me.

"Peeta, stop. I know you didn't mean to. I had to leave the room but I wouldn't have left you completely."

"I know that now but in the moment, I was scared and didn't know what was going on. I was dying, Katniss."

"I know, Peeta. I know you were scared and you weren't all there from being sick and the medicine. It wasn't you that hit me."

"It was though."

"I sat there waiting on any news about you for what seemed like forever and I didn't want to leave the room but I didn't want to cause a scene, either. And you know that I would've found my way back to you somehow." I say.

He doesn't say anything.

"And I always will."

Peeta stays quiet for a few seconds before exhaling deeply, "I will always find my way back to you too. I just can't get your terrified look out of my head now."

"It's fine."

"No, I scared you. It's not the first time I've done that either. I just get so crazy sometimes that I can't function and I don't think about it, I just do it."
