The day began with the soft chirping and tweeting of bluejays, the home stirring to life with creaks, hums, pans clanging, bedsheets shifting, footfall shuffling, and yawns awakening with their persons.

Sleep-crusted eyes blinked open, barely able to lift more than halfway. The soft fluttering of long lashes gave way to a blurred image of a room foreign to him. Something moved away from Adam's field of vision but he could not move his body an inch, it was as if his limbs were pinned underneath a ton of weighted anvils, making movement impossible. It was as if all the muscles in his body had died leaving only those allowing his eyelids to move. His sight grew spotted and his eyes slipped closed, shutting off the day.

Adam went through the next two days on auto, he woke up, got dressed, and left for work, hunger did not trouble him anymore as he did not bother to eat. He continued to work, going over the new procedures with his fellow Hunters.

Kalson side glanced at Adam,  seeing through his masked façade of lies, and told him nothing more than to not fall into the depressive void because it was a cold and unfulfilling feeling that never got better the more you allowed yourself to fall. In retrospect, it was one of the very few times that Kalson gave him advice so out of character that he could almost hear Vidaldus' voice. But he saw the kind and worried deep brown eyes of his best mate, someone that was like a brother to him and it made him yearn for Adam to not be in this rut anymore.

Adam took what Kalson said seriously and walked away while mulling it over as he resumed working with the other Hunters on the task around the base.

"Hey Adam, can you lend us a hand here?"

Adam looked to his left, eyes catching the waving arm of one of the Hunters. He was met with the dark blue eyes of Lake who specialized in making traps and nodded. Adam made his way to where Lake and Garcela knelt trying to work the mechanics of a large bear trap.

Garcela grinned as Adam stopped before them. "Can you please use your Godly strength to hold this down for us Adam?" She asked, "pretty please."

Her smile radiated warmth and sunshine and if Adam didn't know better then he'd say that she was the sweetest woman ever and not a professional at working with deadly explosives. He hadn't forgotten how she nearly broke Jaeger's jaw in a hand-to-hand fight that he challenged her to, especially since she was only twenty-two years old and Jaeger was pushing thirty-five. Adam knelt next to them and held the trap open. He smiled, not fully there, yet something about Gracela's bright brown eyes and her beaming grin brightened his mood just enough for her smile to reflect on his face and give him some sense of joy. "Of course, but why set it now?"

Lake answered that question, "because, we're going to test it out before sending it off to the field"

Garcela nodded eagerly, "yep, we need to make sure it works well."

Lake huffed out, as he tried opening the trap to no avail, "It would be much appreciated, also be careful Adam. I sharpened the teeth so that they would be very impactful to anyone who comes in contact with it."

"Yeah, is also made from pure silver, well most of it, the base is steel." Gracela gushed.

Adam arched a brow, "Smart, just be mindful of where you set it," Adam said. The pair exchanged a look and chuckled.

Garcela bumped Lake's shoulder softly as he inspected the screws. "Oh Adam, aren't we always?"

Adam gave her a dead look, "you, shouldn't be the one speaking when one of your landmines nearly cost Bernard his leg."

She scoffed, waving it off, "maybe if he cared to take in his surroundings instead of running around like a headless chicken then he'd have caught the markers that we set up to alert our fellow Hunters."
