"You may sleep on the couch, or in the extra room at the back. I have extra blankets and I could work on getting you some clothes to wear so you won't be cold." Adam said.
The wolf couldn't believe his ears. The words coming from this man's mouth were foreign to him, he rose a hand to stop them. "Tell me again why you are extending such a kindness to me! You are a hunter, I am a beast—a Werewolf! Why are you so goddamned good? I thought you were of savage upbringing and who practiced harsh judgment, not some... some person that sees others in need and helps them. Stop being what you aren't expected to be!" Tears prickled his eyes and he wiped at them vigorously. "Why, why welcome me into your home? Why trust that I won't seek vengeance and kill you in your sleep?! Why act as though you care for something as abominable as me!?" He heaved out, chest heavy and eyes burning with tears.
Adam took in the young man and how he looked so scared and taken aback by him. He stood, cringing when he felt the throb of his wound at his side persist. He sighed and walked towards him, Lexander's watchful gaze making sure Adam was right enough incase he loses strength in his stance.
"I may be a hunter, but being a cold-hearted hunter is no different than being a killer. And I, Adam Merrick Doxly, am not a killer. Far from it. I hunt to protect my own—not for sport, not for fun, not for a sadistic reason. I do it to keep my people safe from creatures that look them harm. I would be heartless to let a lost wolf go on about his business on a cold harsh night without any family, pack or comfort... especially at your age. I am offering my home to you as an act of my humanity and the fact that I wouldn't forgive myself if something happened to you. So stay."
Leeland choked up. He covered his mouth as the tears ran down his face. Adam hadn't noticed before but now he saw the marks on the young boy's body. Some burn marks, others were long thick scratches, that looked like claw marks, he had bullet wounds and what seemed to be punctures from arrows. His heart ached for the wolf and he couldn't simply let him leave so he'd be left to his own devices while other kind of hunters hunted his kind for sport.
The silence went on for a while until Lexander clapped his hands together with a simple smile on. "Well, this was a lovely evening, no one got killed and mercy and kindness were just shown in a heartwarming display. Take a bow, gentlemen. Leeland, my dear, you are at home if you want... even though I'm still overstaying my own welcome."
Adam brushed him off. "You would have stayed even though I held a gun to your head."
"Yes, because you'd miss. Supernatural speed Adam, cannot beat that so easily," he stood and rested his hands on Adam's shoulder, "eat something before you faint." He turned him around and helped him back to his seat. He smiled at Leeland and gestured with his eyes for him to come. "You may take a shower through there. I'll run the water. Sit and relax." With that he disappeared from the room leaving Adam and Leeland together.
The young wolf was so stunned. No one had ever shown him such kindness, especially a Vampire and a hunter, his natural enemy and his natural predator. "Sit down, you're making me tired by just standing there." Adam said around a mouthful of food. "God, this is so good." He took another spoonful while Leeland shook himself out of his stupor and flopped down on the couch. He leaned back and sighed.
"This is the first time in years that I've had a soft surface to lay my head on." His voice was soft and sounded relaxed as he heard the fire crackle the wood and saw the small embers float up to the chimney.
He chuckled almost in a daze. "Thank you."

Adam laid in bed, resting his body while his wounds healed up faster than normal. Lexander drew the bath for the wolf and left him to himself once he reassured that he was alright. Lexander walked towards Adam's room to see him lying in rest then he rushed to his side and climbed into the bed as he watched Adam peacefully resting. He ran a finger down the left side of his face and smiled. "Such a good man."
Adam hummed, his eyes fluttering open. Sleep still evident in his eyes. "Maybe I am just a fool with a soft heart."he sighs.
Lexander nods. "Maybe so, but nonetheless, you are not like any other." The hunter drifted off to sleep once more on those words while the Vampire watched sleep consume him.
The padding of small feet made the Vampire move towards the sound. His silver eyes widened at the sight of the young pup, who was standing at the entrance of the bathroom with water dripping off his naked form and onto the floorboards. "You must be a nudist." He sighed, walking towards him. He took him by the wrist and led him back inside the bathroom.
"A nude-ist?"
"Yes, a person that fancies their skin and has a distaste for clothing. Not that I'm complaining, but the hunter doesn't understand the nature of our kinds." He reached over into a cupboard to take out a towel then plopped it onto the wolf's head to dry his fluffy damp hair off.
"I thought Vampire's were heartless and murderous."
"And I thought werewolves were all brutes with a temperament problem." He said sarcastically.
He snickered at that as Lexander pulled off the towel then draped it around his shoulders. "I pray you know how to finish drying yourself off?"
He chuckled and nodded at the taller man. "Yes, and thanks."
"Adam gave me a pair of trousers and a blouse for you to wear, I set them in the second bedroom on the mattress for when you're done." He nodded and when Lexander was certain that he was good, he left him alone.
