They were a few feet from the cabin, the very one that they had taken over so suddenly, the place where they called their home. "Why were you gone for so long?" Leeland asked stopping and standing his ground where Lexander tried to continue on. The Vampire did not reply. "Stop ignoring me. You were gone for nearly a week; you owe me an explanation." Lexander snapped around in a blink of an eye, his tall dark figure standing before Leeland his eyes silver. "I don't owe you-."
"You owe us an explanation Lexander. Adam has been so bloody depressed! He was a mess while you were gone! Vidaldus was the reason why he actually left the damn house after nearly three days without you!" He said cutting Lexander off. The Vampire's luster lessened and Leeland went on. "You have no idea how bad it felt to feel as though I was losing another family! You left us Lex, and you didn't even try to come back and check on us, you were gone Lexander... you left."
He looked down at his bare feet, sighing and regarding the wolf, the broken boy standing before him, the very one he had saved and told Adam to take under his wing as his ward. He met the eyes of Leeland, his new shorter hairstyle, his new clothing, his face, the tears that filled his eyes again and sighed. "Leeland... I didn't mean to leave. Every-" his voice cracked, but he cleared his throat and began again, "everything was going fine after you left us... but something, something triggered a power of mine, and it had been so frightening. It honest to God made my heart hurt... and I freaked out and panicked and I came so close to nearly attacking Adam... I didn't want to do it, but my fear of losing him, losing what we had. Some primal fear deep within me came out when I saw him crying over another and I felt some part of me break at the very thought and that was... it was horrid. I didn't realize that in that moment that I had fallen in love with the hunter, and I didn't want that to be taken away from me. I couldn't have that taken away from me. I had already lost so much and so have you... I'm sorry, I shouldn't have left without telling you, but I just didn't know what to do, and for that I deeply apologize."
The tears ran from their eyes as another figure walked down the path that they were on. The cool night air blowing his dark brown hair about. "Lexander." Lexander spun around, cheeks stained with tears as Adam stood there without a blouse, eyes brimming with tears as he looked at the face of the man who he had fallen stupidly in love with. "You bastard! You left, why would you lie?"
"Adam, I..." the hunter stepped forward, his heart aching as he stopped before him, his eyes glassy, but he reached out to brush away the tears from Lexander's cheek. "I never knew that Vampires' cried." Lexander chuckled softly, nodding in answer to Adam's words.
"I've missed you, you damn beast."
"And I've missed you too, you stubborn hunter."
Lexander tentatively ran his fingers over Adam's smooth tan skin, before he smiled and pulled him in. The men exhaled the weight of loss from their chest, as they finally embraced each other after what felt like endless days of being starved of one another. Lexander sobbed against Adam's shoulder and Adam sobbed into the crook of Lexander's neck. The men enjoyed being back in their lovers arms after such a long time of being separated. Leeland still had tears rolling down his face, but now a smile had accompanied his tears. Adam finally looked up and saw Leeland standing there as they hugged and then sighed and extended an arm out to him. "You too Lee." He accepted it and Adam pulled him in. "I missed this." He mumbled against his guardians... the very ones that had become his new family.
"Not that I do not enjoy this, but it is cold and I am not properly dressed." Adam muttered against Lexander's shoulder. Lexander pulled back, chuckling. "Oh, you poor dear, how thoughtless of me. But I do advise that the next time you rush out of the house into the dead of the night in such a fright from Leeland's absence, please do not forgot that the weather is close to becoming autumn." Adam chuckled nervously. "Let's go on inside and warm you up, Leeland alone isn't enough to keep your body temperature high." They snickered at his words and separated before Adam froze outside with them. Lexander smiled, still thinking of how well Adam took his return. "The house is much better looking than when I left... and it doesn't reek of death so good job for keeping it clean Leeland."
