Question: Who is your favourite mortal?
Percy: Oh, that's easy. My mom!
Annabeth: Um... my dad? Or Ms Jackson. She's pretty nice.
Percy: :)
Piper: I don't know that many mortals...
Piper: Does my dad count?
Will: My favourite mortal is Rachel, actually.
Annabeth: Rachel? As in... Rachel Elizabeth Dare?
Will: Yeah! She comes by the Apollo cabin sometimes, and sings with us.
Rachel: Yup! I mostly listen to Taylor Swift, but I also have the entire Hamilton musical memorized :)
dropping pop references left and right ;)
Nico: Speaking of which, Rachel drops by the Hades cabin a lot, too.
Nico: We play Mythomagic.
Will: Wait you still play that?
Nico: Just a little.
He shudders.
Nico: Bad memories.
A girl with wispy blonde hair pokes her head out from behind the door.
"Rachel stops by our cabin and sings us lullabies too"
Her voice is soft and tinkly.
Annabeth kneels down so she can be at the same height as the girl.
Annabeth: What's your name, honey?
The girl emerges from behind the door.
"I'm Elsie. From the Hypnos cabin."
Rachel: Oh hi Elsie! What are you doing around here?
Elsie: Oh um... Darcy can't fall asleep. He wants you to sing him some lullabies.
Rachel: Oh sure!
She looks around at everyone.
Rachel: Gtg. Bye!
She follows Elsie to the Hypnos cabin.
Percy: That's so nice of her! I guess she's like, everyone's camp bestie now. I never really thought about it, but between school and quests, we've been spending less and less time at camp.
Annabeth: Yeah... I miss the old times, when all we did was pick strawberries and climb lava walls.
Percy: We should really come back more often.
Annabeth smiles.
Annabeth: Yeah...
She pauses.
Annabeth: Summer's coming soon, wanna spend it at camp with me?
Percy laces his fingers through Annabeth's.
Percy: Absolutely :)
They set off through the strawberry fields together.
