☆Steve's POV☆
I promise myself I'll keep an eye on Callie so she won't get hurt. Really, though, she is tougher than she seems.
I slip on my improved suit, relieved that I'm wearing something that is slightly more familiar. Memories flood into my head as I stand in front of the mirror. I'm going back to what I love most: saving people.
I run back to the bridge where Fury is waiting with Natasha. Fury nods to himself.
"Coulson did well," is his only comment. I adjust my shield on my left arm.
"What's the plan?" I ask Fury, leaning on the balcony railing.
"We're gonna let Callie down on top of the building Loki is going to attack," Fury explains. "When she gives the call, you and Agent Romanoff will fly over the building and assault Loki in any way needed." I nod. It sounds like a basic plan.
Then, I hear the slight echo of small heels entering the room. The three of us turn to see Callie standing awkwardly at the door.
She wears a simple, strapless deep blue dress that falls to the floor. Her hair is curled and down. She looks so...old-fashioned. Anything else added to her would have overdone it. She looks like she could be from the 40's. Peggy's face flashes in my mind, but I focus on what's ahead.
"I never thought I'd ever see you in a dress, Agent Jones," Fury chuckles. She frowns slightly.
"It wasn't my idea," she retorts, clearly upset.
"You should've seen her face when she saw it in the case," I mutter to the two of them as Callie walks over, the dress billowing slightly.
"You are so paying for this one, Director," she hits Fury playfully on the arm. He doesn't show any expression, but a smile threatens to cover his face. Just an example of how Callie brings out the best in people.
"See you in a few hours," he dismisses us to the jet.
