Saturday Zac woke up and got ready for the day. The party started at 2 PM so he could relax for a few minutes before going to get ready for the party.
"Are you going to the party today?" Jessica asked and Zac nodded.
"Why? You want something?"
"Yeah, the house to myself. Mom and dad left this morning and you're leaving too. This is great!" She yelled excitedly grabbing some cereal.
"I'm so glad you'll miss me." Zac said sarcastically.
"Just make sure you're out of the house on time." Jessica said before pouring her cereal in a bowl and adding milk.
At 1:30 PM Zac was ready to leave. He got his keys and put on his sunglasses before going into the living room.
"Don't burn the house down while I'm gone."
"I won't. Bye weirdo." Jessica said waving at him as he walked out the door.
Zac got to his car and drove off to their lake. A few cars were already there. A few people were in the water and the others were sitting around it.
"Zac attack!" Samar yelled from the water where he was standing. He wasn't wearing a swimming costume. He was just wearing a tank top and shorts.
"Hey Samar." Zac chuckled walking towards his best friend. "Where are the girls?"
"They said they'll be here in a few. Something about multiple pep talks."
"Pep talks?"
"That's what Phoebe said." Samar shrugged before getting out the water. He had set his things up near one of the trees that led into the woods. The two sat down chatting for a while before the girls showed up.
"Hey guys." Aliyah greeted.
"Hey. So why were you guys so late?" Zac asked.
"Girl stuff." Zoe shrugged and Phoebe smirked.
"What kind of girl stuff?" Zac continued to ask.
"The kind that you don't tell guys about." Zoe answered.
"Not even if you've been friends with them for years?" Zac asked making Zoe roll her eyes.
"Dude, it's chick stuff that dudes can't know. What don't you get?!"
"Sorry jeez. What's with girls and being so defensive about shit?"
"Moving on. This is just a starter party. The real one is gonna be at Emmit Baxter's house, so don't get wasted just yet." Zoe told everyone.
"Cool, if anyone needs me I'll be over there playing VB." Phoebe pointed at the people setting up the net.
"I think I'll join her." Aliyah said before grabbing Phoebe's hand and running off with her.
"I'm going back in the water." Samar stood up and ran towards the lake.
"I guess it's just you and me." Zac told Zoe.
"No, just you. I'm gonna go look for someone." Zoe said before getting up and walking away.
"I guess I can go join Samar." Zac said to himself. Before he could get up though something or more like someone caught his eye.
Chloe was getting out of a car with Martha. Chloe was wearing blue jean shorts, a black crop top and black and white converse. Martha on the other hand had black jean shorts, a white crop top and white converse.
They were trying to get their things out the car so Zac thought it was a great chance for him to look like a hero in front of Chloe.
He got up and walked towards their car with a nervous smile.
"Can I help you with that?" Zac asked trying to make sure his voice doesn't crack.
"Oh hey Zac, yeah if you can help us with our bags that would be greatly appreciated." Chloe said with a sweet smile.
"Let's see what those noodles you call arms can do." Martha said with crossed arms.
"My arms aren't noodles." Zac glared and Martha shrugged.
"We'll see McGregor."
Zac rolled his eyes before grabbing both their backpacks and the cooler box. He had to admit the cooler box was a bit heavy but he wasn't about to admit that in front of Martha. He sat their things down where Martha told him to.
"Thanks for the assist Zac." Chloe smiled giving his shoulder a small squeeze.
"Yeah McGregor, you're not as wimpy as I thought you were." Martha smiled slapping him hard on the shoulder.
"No problem." Zac said rubbing his shoulder. He gave them one last smile before walking away back to his spot.
Once he got there he took a little nap. Whatever was in that cooler box made him super tired.
Meanwhile Zoe was walking through the woods. She didn't really know where she was going but she knew what she was looking for. More specifically who she was looking for.
After five minutes of walking around in what seemed like circles her persistence finally paid off.
"There you are." She said startling the girl who was quietly reading her book.
"What are you even doing here Zo?"
"You're the one who told me to come."
"No, I said I'll be reading in the woods."
"Well I'm not going back alone so I guess you're stuck with me miss Watson." Zoe smiled proudly and Naomi rolled her eyes.
"I guess I am." Naomi didn't wanna admit it but she was happy Zoe came to find her.
The two were paired up for the year in Literature so Zoe thought she should learn more about her partner. What she didn't know was that it would be so hard to get the girl to open up to her.
Normally Zoe would just give up on learning more about her but something about Naomi Watson just made her wanna stick around.
Everyone knows that Naomi is a huge mystery to anyone who isn't close friends with her cousin, but since Zoe has loved mysteries since she was little, Naomi intrigued her more than anyone in the entire school.
"So are you going to the party after this?" Zoe asked the girl who raised her eyebrow.
"Do you want me to?"
"Maybe." Zoe shrugged.
"Then maybe I'll go." Naomi smiled and so did Zoe.
Zoe sat down next to the girl and they talked about school, home and the things they liked. Zoe noticed that Naomi was leaving some things out when she was talking about herself, but she wasn't going to pry at her so she let it slide.
Even though some things were kept secret the two had a great time talking to each other.
