"Since we have a gig on Saturday I think today we should practice your song."

"Which song are we playing?" Zac asked.

"You pick. I have a list of songs on the piano. Go pick one you think we can manage."

Zac smiled and ran to the piano which was at the other end of the room.

"I have an assignment for you young lady."

"What assignment?"

"I want you to write a song."

"I don't know how to write a song."

"Start with a poem and I'll help you from there."

"What am I even gonna write about?" Naomi sighed.

"Write about how you feel. Happy, sad, angry, confused, scared. Just express your feelings on a paper." Mr Hartford smiled.

"Okay, does Zac have to do this too?" Naomi asked.

"No. Not yet anyway."

Naomi nodded and Zac came back with the sheet of paper already knowing which song he wanted to for Saturday.

"Okay, let's get to practicing." Mr Hartford clapped his hands together grabbing a base guitar.

As soon as the bell rang they put their instruments away. They grabbed their things and said goodbye to Mr Hartford.

"Hey dorks." Zoe said to the two as soon as they walked out the school building.

"Hey, loser." Naomi smirked. "Aren't you supposed to be in debate club?"

"Got out early." Zoe shrugged.

"Good, I need your help with something. Come with me to the library?" Naomi asked and Zoe nodded.

"See you tomorrow Zachary." Naomi said as they walked off school grounds.

"Zac, just call me Zac."

"You talking to yourself McGregor?" Zac turned around to find Martha and Chloe looking at him with eyebrows raised.

"No, I was talking to Naomi. She likes to call me Zachary but I'd prefer she call me Zac."

"Whatever McGregor. See you later Chlo." Martha sighed.

"Bye Martha." Zac said enthusiastically earning him a look of annoyance from Martha.

"I don't think your best friend likes me very much." Zac sighed.

"Don't take it personally, she just doesn't like guys in general."

"But she likes Toby and Markus." Zac whined.

"Yeah, well Toby is gay and Markus........ Markus is the only guy who never underestimated her." Chloe shrugged.

"Great so she'll practically never like me. I mean she still calls me by my last name." Zac sighed.

"Don't worry about her. She'll warm up to you eventually." Chloe said and Zac nodded.

"I hope." she added as they got into Zac's car.

"Well that's not helping." Zac whined making Chloe giggle as he started the car.

Naomi and Zoe had just gotten to the towns library.

"What are we looking for exactly?" Zoe asked as they walked towards the bookshelves.

"A book about music and literature." Naomi shrugged.

"May I ask why?"

"I have an assignment. I have to write a poem. Since lyrics are practically poems with music I thought that would help."

"Well I have to tell you something." Zoe smirked.

"What?"

"You're in the History isle." Zoe whispered in Naomi's ear.

"That's why you're here. Help me find the literature books." Naomi smiled pulling Zoe to the next isle.

After finding the book the two found a table to sit and read. Zoe didn't even bother reading her book. Instead she just stared at Naomi.

"I can feel you staring." Naomi said not looking up from her book.

"I know." Zoe smiled.

"Then why are you still looking?"

"Simple. You're beautiful."

"You flatter me. Don't you have homework or something?"

"I don't feel like doing it. Come with me please." Zoe said grabbing Naomi's arm and pulling her out the library after checking out the books.

"Where are you taking me?" Naomi chuckled as they ran out the library.

"We are going on a date."

"Okay let's go." Naomi chuckled as they Zoe took her to a smoothie shop.

Naomi recognized the shop since it's where Mr Hartford took her and Zac on Saturday.

They ordered their drinks and took their seats. While they were talking Zoe saw a flyer on the counter. She got up and looked at it.

"Cool, a bunch of bands are performing on Saturday. You wanna come watch it with me?"

"I can't."

"Why not?" Zoe whined.

"You'll see once you get here Saturday." Naomi smirked and Zoe raised an eyebrow.

"Okay. What's this about?"

"You'll see Saturday night." Naomi smiled kissing Zoe's cheek.

"Okay now you're really confusing me."

"That's okay. Just go with it." Naomi and took a sip of her smoothie.

After their smoothie date they walked over to Naomi's house hand in hand.

"I'm home! And Zoe's here too!" Naomi announced so her grandparents could hear and not do anything to embarrass her.

"Hey girls." Janice said smiling at the girls as she walked down the stairs.

"Hey Mrs Watson." Zoe smiled.

"Hey sweetie."

"Well, we'll be in my room if you need us. Where's grandpa by the way?"

"He's in the garage working on his scale models."

"Okay." Naomi nodded before taking Zoe's hand and leading her to her room.

Naomi's room was pretty neat. Zoe took a seat at Naomi's desk. She had only been in Naomi's room about three times before and she already hand a favorite spot in the chair.

"By the way there's a party Friday night. You wanna come?" Zoe asked spinning around in the chair.

"On one condition." Naomi smirked sitting at the edge of her bed. Zoe smiled and walked towards Naomi and gave a sweet, short kiss.

"I was gonna say you buy me a smoothie Saturday but that's way better." Naomi smiled looking at her girlfriend in a daze.

Zoe laughed and gave Naomi one last kiss. "Now homework time." Zoe said upon pulling away from Naomi who was still in a daze.

They got their homework done and after that they had a few snacks before Bernie and Naomi drove Zoe home.

"Later gator." Bernie said as Zoe got out the car.

"After a while crocodile." Zoe smiled shutting the door.

"You're weird." Naomi chuckled.

"Once again, It's a good thing you're attracted to all things weird." Zoe smirked.

"See you tomorrow Zo." Naomi smiled fondly after letting out a small laugh.

"You too toots." Zoe smiled before turning around and walking into her house.

"You two look cute together." Bernie said making Naomi smile. "Look now that you're older there are things that you'd want to do in your room."

"Please don't..... I do not want to have this conversation with my grandfather." Naomi chuckled closing her ears.
