Zac was relaxing on sofa reading a comic book. It was a Saturday which meant his parents were both gone. Probably to spend the day with their business friends.
"Ouch!" Jessica yelled from the kitchen making Zac look at her.
"What are you doing?" Zac asked walking towards the his sister.
"I was cutting carrots and I accidentally cut my finger." Jessica pouted.
Zac rolled his eyes before grabbing her hand and running it under water. He the grabbed the knife and cleaned it.
"Watch." He said holding the carrots and chopping them.
"If you're scared of cutting your fingers just tuck them in." Zac instructed.
"Thanks." Jessica smiled.
"Why are you chopping carrots in the first place?" Zac asked putting a bit of the chopped carrot in his mouth.
"I wanted to make a salad." Jessica said making Zac tilt his head in confusion.
"What type of salad?"
"The usual. Lettuce, tomato, onion." Jessica shrugged.
"You don't put carrots in that type of salad." Zac rolled his eyes grabbing lettuce and tomato out the fridge.
He grabbed a bowl, washed the vegetables. He sliced the tomatoes and onions and shredded the lettuce.
"Okay, where's the dressing?"
"I don't know."
"What do you mean you don't know. Were you gonna make a salad without dressing?"
"I thought it was in the fridge." Jessica defended.
"Fine, I'll just make my own." Zac sighed and made a salad dressing in a separate bowl.
"You know, you're really good at this."
"At what?"
"Cooking. Way better than me anyway."
"Thanks. Here's your salad." Zac said before going over to the sink to wash his dishes.
Jessica grabbed a fork and started eating her salad. Zac looked at her questioningly and she raised an eyebrow.
"What?"
"Do you think I listen to dad way too much?"
"No, not really. Why do you ask?"
"Naomi said so. She thinks that it's wrong for me to do something I hate just to please him."
"Maybe she's right." Jessica shrugged.
"Ugh! I thought your senior year in high school is supposed to be fun not stressful." Zac groaned burying his face in his hands.
Zac's phone started buzzing from the couch and he walked towards it and read the text.
Naomi: Hartford wants us to meet him at the park.
Zac: Why?
Naomi: I don't know! Just get your butt here ASAP.
Zac: Fine. Give me a few minutes.
"Hey dork, I'm going to the park. See you when I get back." Zac said going to his room to change his shirt, shoes and grab a jacket.
"When are you coming back?"
"Not sure. I'll text if I'm going to be late." Zac said going out the door and walking over to the park.
When he got there he saw Naomi and Mr Hartford standing next to the latter's car.
