Alanna Sky BauerA month had already passed since Astrid ran away from her home, there was no sign of her mother or her father looking for her which was cruel considering they don't even know where their daughter is. Astrid also gained back the weight she had lost and was smiling a lot more than usual. Sometimes she acts as if nothing happened to her but I knew her, I know behind those laughter were tears she couldn't bear to shed in front of us.
I woke up with her right beside me, she was already awake looking at me as she smiled from ear to ear when I opened my eyes.
"Good morning" she uttered as she snuggled closer to me and kissed my forehead
"Good morning" I replied pulling her closer for a hug
"I'm going to cook breakfast, wanna help me?" She asked
"Sure" I answered
We both stood up and fixed the bed before going to the kitchen to cook.
She seemed cheery today more than the past few days. The first week she was here I used to see her crying as she lay in bed with her back facing me, sometimes she'd miss breakfast or wouldn't even eat for a whole day. I'm glad she's finally back to her old self or maybe even better than she was.
"What are we cooking today?" I asked her as I wrap my arms around her waist
"Strawberry pancakes with maple syrup, your favorite" she replied as she took out a big bowl
"Fluffy just how you like them" she continued
I went to the fridge and took out the eggs, milk, and butter while Astrid prepared the dry ingredients. We mixed everything into a big bowl and started flipping pancakes. A few minutes later we finished cooking and called dad, Amarra, and Ash to come join us for breakfast.
"Wanna take this to the garden?" She asked
"Yeah, it'd be a good change of scenery" I replied as we transferred everything to the garden
The backyard was bristling in sunlight while the garden was covered in all sorts of colors of the flowers which were also glistening as it was still covered with dewdrops. The wind whispered a tune sounding so perfect the birds would dance and sing a long with it. The smell of the sweet strawberry pancakes seeped through my nose making my stomach grumble in hunger
"That hungry?" Astrid laughed at her own remarks
Dad, Amarra, and Ash all walked towards us as we prepared the dishes.
We enjoyed our breakfast together as a family, small talks turned into long conversations seeming like we're all still getting to know each other. Laughter and smiles filled the place making it look more beautiful than it is right now. Every second that passed were moments I would hold dear to me. I stopped and looked at them, it feels like a dream, too perfect, my only hope is that it'd stay this way forever.
992nd.
Family.
After breakfast we all headed inside to get the day started
"Hey wanna take a trip down memory lane later?" Asked Astrid
I furrowed my eyebrows in response
