Bucket list

Before I could even answer, I felt his warm arms around me. Bumilis bigla ang tibok ng puso ko lalo na no'ng ibinaon niya ang kanyang mukha sa balikat ko.

"W-What's yakapsul? I'll go and buy–"

I heard him laugh a little. "Payakap lang ako, Cal."

Saglit akong napahinto at unti-unting tumango. So, this is yakapsul? I didn't know. Kahit unli pa, Jax Pereira.

I slowly put my arms around him, too... I want to comfort him and to let him know that I am here.

Matagal kaming nanatili sa ganoong posisyon nang kumalas siya.

"Salamat. Ang galing mo, okay na ako ulit..." Jax said in a very soft tone and then he tried to smile.

He is such a soft boy.

"Do you want to share it?" I dared to ask.

Naupo kami ni Jax doon sa isang couch. He still looks very sad.

"Tanda mo 'yong kaibigan ko na ka-face off ko sa facebook?" he asked.

My forehead creased. "Yes, why?"

"They got ambushed on their day tour. Napuruhan siya, eh... The smoke that surrounded the entire place damaged his breathing passages. My friend fell into a coma because of smoke inhalation."

Napahawak ako sa aking bibig dahil sa gulat. Oh my God! What is happening in the world?

"I-Is he studying at Garnet Academy?" I'm trying to confirm my hunch.

Jax immediately nodded.

Kuya Kairon was supposed to be in a Day Tour yesterday! Thank God he got punished! Hindi ko alam ang gagawin kung napahamak din ang Kuya!

I held Jax hand. "I'm so sorry about your friend..."

Coma is not a joke. I can't imagine how painful it is for Jax.

"Bibisitahin mo ba siya?"

Jax shook his head. "Hindi pa raw tumatanggap ng bisita... Pag pwede na, dadalaw ako at gigisingin ang ulupong na 'yun."

I smiled at him. "Don't worry, he'll wake up."

"Palaban naman 'yon si Beau... Dami ngang pinaglalaban ng tangang 'yon, eh. Kaya dapat gumising siya, kahit para kay Paige manlang."

I got so confused when he mentioned Paige. And then I suddenly remembered the time he told me that when he and his friend, Beau, isn't talking that much anymore, naging bestfriend daw niya iyong kapatid nito.

"Gigising 'yun," I assured him.

Bumaling siya sa akin at maigi akong tinignan. His mood is now lighter than earlier.

"Sama ako sa shopping mo, Cali!" aniya.

Tumaas ang kilay ko roon. "Huh? Why? Do you want to buy bags din?"

Natawa siya. "Pwede... Paper bag!"

I softly punched his arm. "What nga?"

"Malulungkot lang ako sa bahay, eh. Sama na lang ako sa 'yo..."

Inayos ko ang upo ko at napahawak sa dulo ng aking palda. "S-Sure... But won't you get bored? Anong gagawin mo ro'n?"

I'm going to buy a whole ass collection. At saka matagal akong mag-shopping. I'm checking everything carefully before I get it. Ayaw ko kasi na pag-uwi ko saka ko lang malalamang may damage. It would be so annoying!
