Final

I was hurt upon reading the message. Knowing Jax, there must be a reason... But I was still hurt. It's my birthday and I was really looking forward to see him.

My eyes are getting watery. I immediately stopped myself because I don't want to cry on my birthday... And my foundation is mahal!

Pinatawag ako sa harapan para magpasalamat sa mga bisita. I forced a smile.

"Thank you all for coming to my birthday party. I really do appreciate it..."

I don't know some of the people who came, but I appreciate them coming all the way here. Lalo na ngayon sa sitwasyon na maraming mga tigapagmana ang napapahamak. Ang bawat bisita at mga kilalang pamilya ay may mga dalang sariling body guards. Nakasanayan na rin iyon sa panahon ngayon. They were all lining up and it made my birthday looked like some kind of a royal party.

Nagsimula na ang kainan. I can't help it not to be sad because of Jax. Ano kaya ang meron? Maybe something came up? An emergency maybe?

"Why do you look sad, Cali-bear?" Mom asked. "Don't you like the cake?"

I was beside her for the slicing of my huge cake. I chose red velvet for the flavor.

"No, Mom... I like it. It's perfect," I told her.

"Happy Birthday my princess," Dad said and hugged me.

I smiled. "Thanks, Dad..."

Nagpaalam muna ako sa kanila pagkatapos ng cake slicing para pumunta sa table nina Gelo.

"Are you guys okay?" I asked them.

My eyes widened when I saw a lot of cocktail drinks sa harapan ni Xuriella.

"My God, Xuri! Are you planning to be drunk in the hopes of someone here in my party will bring you home?!"

My imagination got the best of me.

"Parang ganoon na nga! Pero Cali, cocktail naman 'yan and hindi naman ako malalasing ng sobra..." aniya. "Hindi ako gaya ni Cat. Kahit isang kutsara lang ata malalasing na!"

"Hey!" Cat said and we all laughed.

"I-uuwi ko naman siya kung ganoon," sabi ni Theo.

Saglit na natahimik ang lahat. Oh my God. Wait... Am I missing something here?

Cat raised her brows. "Excuse me?!"

"I-I mean... I-uuwi ko kayo! Kayong lahat! Kahit sinong malasing!" giit naman ni Theo.

"Ah!" we all said in sync.

"Where's Jax? Anong oras na, ah..." Gelo said.

Agad na naman akong nalungkot nang maalala.

"He can't make it," I told them.

"What?!" si Xuri.

"Seryoso? There's no way! He was so excited and–" Theo stopped and immediately checked his phone.

"Maybe something came up," sabi ko pa.

Umalis na muna ako saglit dahil mas nalulungkot ako na pag-usapan iyon. It's my birthday. He's special to me and he's not here. I know naman na may reason siya, but I'm just so sad about it.

I went to the other side of our garden near the parking. No one is here.

I sat on the wooden bench and looked up. Naiiyak kasi ako at ayaw ko na tumulo iyong mga luha sa mukha ko. Sayang ang make-up!
