Chapter 25

Suspect

You can be important to someone but not all the time.

Jax never came back. I don't know how he will finish the semester when he already missed two exams, but for sure the headmistress will give him options.

I'll never forget how he let go of my hand. It hurts. It hurts a lot... Paige needed him. That's the only thing I know before he left. Yeah, that same name again. Bakit ba ako napapaligiran ng mga Paige? Even Kuya's girlfriend!

When it was dinner time, nagtataka na ang Star Sapphire Class kung nasaan si Jax. Even I do not know...

"Guys, did you hear about the ambush happened this afternoon? Garnet Academy students daw, galing sa Fencing Class nila!" Xuri said.

Agad kong nabitawan ang basong hawak. The water splashed all over me and I couldn't care less.

"W-What?" I can't believe what I just heard.

"Are you sure about that, Xuri?!" Gelo said in panic.

"Ang Ate..." Theo said and he immediately ran.

Kuya mentioned it to me! He said that they will go out for a fencing class! Agad na umakyat ang kaba sa dibdib ko.

Tumayo na rin ako at ganoon din si Gelo. Tumakbo na kami pabalik sa mga kuwarto namin. I need to call Mom and Dad!

I tried several times to call them but both of their numbers were busy. Kuya's number was out of coverage area. Sobra akong nag-aalala. My heart is racing violently.

Lumabas ako at nasaktuhan na ganoon din si Gelo.

"Na-contact ko na si Kuya Andy! They're safe! Safe din ang Kuya mo at Ate ni Theo!" Gelo said. "Thank God!"

Sa sobrang tuwa ay napayakap ako sa kaibigan. Agad akong nakahinga ng maluwag pero ang takot para sa kapatid ay nanatili.

Gusto kong umuwi pero hindi naman pwede. We can only go home after the exams. I am so worried. I want to hear Kuya's voice at least.

Ngayon ang last day ng exams. Pangalawa akong natapos kaya naman papunta na ako ngayon sa The Pad para mag-impake. First sem was officially over.

I can't really focus and I don't even know if I did well with the exams. I hope I did.

I am worrying about my brother and at the same time, I can't stop thinking about Jax.

Hindi na talaga siya bumalik pa...

Gusto kong magalit, pero sa totoo lang ay wala naman siyang kasalanan. As I was thinking about it... He said that he don't want to transfer anymore, but he never said that he won't.

He never promised anything. It was all on me. Who hurt me? My own expectations.

Sometimes, we create our own heartbreaks through expectations.

I was stopped with my tracks when I saw Jax walked out of his room with his luggages. Sa gulat ay nalaglag ko ang mga librong hawak.

He immediately went to me and helped me with my books. I looked at him with pain in my eyes. Ngayong nandito siya at alam kong aalis din, parang nilukot-lukot bigla ang puso ko.

Inabot niya sa akin iyong mga libro ko at agad ko namang kinuha ang mga iyon.

His eyes were bloodshot. He looks so devastated and I can't even ask why.
