You Get A Cool Hat

7:30 Am, Saturday, October 31st. Halloween was Trixie's favorite holiday, aside from Christmas. It was her favorite for many reasons, one of the main ones being she got to spend it with her mom. Most Halloweens, her and Chloe would wear matching outfits and go trick or treating together.

Despite her mom's schedule being super busy, she hoped this year would be no different. 7:45 hit and she decided that her parents had enough time to sleep. She ran out of her room and swung open her mom's door. Then she ran and jumped on top of them.

"WAKE UP IT'S HALLOWEEN!"
"Dear dad, you know halloween isn't affective until it's dark out right?"
"Not the way I do it."

Lucifer looked at Trixie with confusion in his face, but before he could ask Chloe spoke up.

"Monkey, could you give us like five minutes to get up? And then we can discuss what we're doing tonight?"
"Fine."

With a huff Trixie got off the bed and went back to her room. There was a chest at the foot of her bed filled with all her past costumes, and while usually they planned ahead, Trixie though it'd be fun to improvise this year. By the time Chloe and Lucifer had gotten up, Trixie's room was a mess.

Her costume chest was completely empty, sprawled around her room in a way she could see each piece individually. She started to try and piece things together, but not before Chloe knocked on her door.

"Um- what happened in here?"
"Huh? Oh, costume planning. Hey is Lucifer coming with us tonight."

Chloe inhaled sharply and Trixie's face fell.

"No, really? That's two Halloween's in a row!"
"I know baby, I know. But a new case just dropped and I'm the only one available."
"So, who's taking me trick or treating then?"
"I dont know."
"Mom!"
"I'll take her."

Lucifer had popped his head on the other side of Chloe.

"What? No, I need you."
"Well we both know that's not true Detective. Besides, Maze can't take her, she's doing something with Eve. And I would never subject her to having to spend time with my holier-than-thou brother. So, I'll take her."
"You okay with that Monkey."

Trixie nodded excitedly. Chloe smiled and walked over to hug and kiss her daughter. After saying goodbyes, Chloe left and then it was just Lucifer and Trixie.

"So, what does your Halloween consist of?"

Trixie grinned and it made Lucifer question his decision to take care of the urchin.

"Well, usually my mom and I wear matching costumes. So, we're gonna have to figure something out for us."
"Wha- no absolutely not. I will not be getting dressed up with you."

Five hours later, and Trixie had managed to put Lucifer into a pirate costume. It was her dad's from a few years ago, but Lucifer knew a tailor who owed him a favor from a while back.

"See this isn't so bad."
"Says you, You get a cool hat. I have an eye patch and a stuffed parrot on my shoulder."

Trixie giggled while Lucifer just rolled his eyes.

"So, what else do you do?"
"Pumpkin carving."
"You carve pumpkins just to take out their guts, put a weird design on it, only to use it for one night, and then for it to grow moldy?"
"We also cook the seeds!"
"Alright, to a grocery store we go."

They spent a while figuring out which pumpkins would be best. Despite hating the tradition, Lucifer sure knew a lot about picking the perfect pumpkin. Once satisfied, they drove back to the apartment to start carving.

Trixie showed Lucifer all the tricks she'd learnt over the years. Including wearing gloves to scrape out pumpkin guts, so your hands don't get all gross. As it turned out, practically being a master chef came in handy when it came to carving the pumpkins.

Lucifer helped Trixie with the smaller or more complicated cuts, along with actually getting in to carving his own pumpkin. Once they finished, they sat back to admire their work.

"You know, I hate to say this, but I quite enjoyed that. I'm also very impressed with your work urchin."
"Thanks. But I think it would look better like this,"

Trixie grabbed a handful of guts, and smashed them into Lucifer's face.

"Yup. Much better."

Lucifer gasped before retaliating, but in Trixie's hair. Before they knew it, they were both covered in pumpkin and laughing.

"You play dirty Trix."
"Rule one when playing with adults, never hold back."
"Ah, I see Maze has taught you well."
"Yes she has. But what are we supposed to wear tonight? We can't go out like this."
"Why don't we stay in. Watch some scary movies, play some board games. Then tomorrow, we'll go buy all the cheap candy front the store."
"But, we don't have candy to eat tonight."
"We'll just turn the lights out so trick or treaters don't come to the door and eat that candy."
"That seems rude. Let's do it!"

They both cleaned up the best they could before deciding to just keep the costumes on. Then, after a game or two of monopoly, they settled into the couch to watch a movie. Trixie lifted up one of Lucifer's arms to cuddle into his side. Instinctively, he tried to pull away but Trixie held firm to his arm.

"Don't fight it, you'll just end up losing"

Lucifer chuckled before giving in to her request, and before he knew it they were both asleep.

Chloe got home around 11. The tv was the first thing she heard when she walked into the apartment. Walking towards the sound she found her boyfriend and daughter snuggling on the couch, the tv playing in the background. She shut it off before waking up Lucifer.

"Wha- oh hey. How was work?"
"Uh, it was tiring."

Chloe climbed underneath Lucifer's other arm, snuggling into his side.

"So, what'd you guys do?"
"Oh not much. Pumpkin carving, pumpkin fight, monopoly, and a movie."
"You didn't go trick or treating?"
"No. After the pumpkin fight we decided to stay in. I did however, promise her we'd buy all the cheap candy tomorrow."

Chloe chuckled while closing her eyes.

"What about trick or treaters? How many of those did we get?"
"None, we ate that candy while watching the movie."
"You're lucky I'm too tired to care."
"Hey, she had fun. That's what you wanted right?"
"That's fair. Alright I forgive you."

Lucifer chuckled and kissed Chloe's head. He then also closed his eyes, both of them falling asleep quickly.

Thank you @raquesnog for this idea. It was so fun to write, obviously as it is one of my longest chapters, and this idea was absolutely adorable. I have wanted to do a Halloween themed one and this gave me the perfect opportunity so thank you so much for it!!! As always grammar, spelling, and ideas!!!
