Chapter 15~ Hanging With Him

For some reason, the way that Hunter's hand felt intertwined with mine made me expect that butterflies were going to erupt in my stomach.

But they didn't.

As we were rushing to his motorcycle, the stranger's voice continued to boom throughout our surroundings. The wind was masking some of the man's shouts out, but inside my head was pounding with distress.

Like, what if that man was a cop? He could've arrested us right on the spot if Hunter didn't yank me out of what I thought was some type of imagination.

"Did you have fun today?" He asked, as we got back to my house, while he was parked at the end of my driveway.

"Believe it or not, but I did" I said, giving a small grin. I could say that before I got off his bike, I placed the helmet back on the seat. But, as shocking as it sounds, I, Reese Parker, haven't worn a helmet once since I've been on Hunter's motorcycle.

You'd think that since I never would've trusted him that one time I rode with him to school, I would've forced him to give me a helmet. But I didn't. Something about him just made me trust him from the start, sort of.

Once I walked up to my driveway, I heard footsteps following me, obviously Hunter's. Unless there was some pedophile behind me, which in that case I would've ended up bringing my leg straight up to the person's balls.

All of a sudden, I felt Hunter's arms adjust tightly around my torso as he engulfed me in a squeezing hug.

"Thank you for being a person that I can actually trust" he mumbled in my ear.

I never thought I would see the day that Hunter Blake was being a sensitive person, but I have.

I returned the hug, telling him that 'I'd be that person he can talk to about anything.'

"Hate to ruin the emotional moment, but what time is it?" I asked Hunter, breaking off the hug as I started adjusting my hand on the front door handle.

He pulled out his phone as his phone lit up. "3:07."

"Whoa" I said, with a slight laugh. As I put the key in the keyhole and turned it to the left, I heard the door click as I pushed it open.

As I saw Hunter beginning to walk away, I suddenly remembered that weight on my shoulders and upper body.

Starting to shrug off his letterman jacket, I yelled his name. He turned around, with a questionable look on his face.

"Couldn't stand the fact of not being around me for 10 seconds, short stuff?"

"Back with your ignorance, I see" I responded, removing the jacket from my body and off of my arms. "Here, I almost forgot about this." As I tried handing him his jacket back, he kept turning his body while his hands were back in his front jean pockets.

"Just keep it for now." He answered, walking away after saying goodbye. When I heard his engine roar to life, I walked inside the empty house, tossing the jacket on the kitchen counter.

Before trudging up the stairs, I heard my phone buzz against the counter. How could I forget about one of my favorite things in the world?

Since outside, the sky was unbelievably dark, the bright light on my phone practically blinded me. I instantly dimmed the light, seeing who was texting me at 3:00am.

Apparently, during the time I was at the abandoned park, Staci thought it'd be fun to text me 23 times. While Lyra texted me 16, and I had one remaining text from 'Badass.'
