Chapter 16~ Yes, No, Maybe?
My phone started buzzing to "Pretend" by Bad Suns, telling me that it was already 5:00am. My hands shuffled around to find my phone, as I punched the 'snooze' button.
When I attempted to get up, I felt a weight on my waist, enclosing me towards a muscular body.
I almost completely forgot about the fact that I fell asleep with Hunter on the couch last night, until he groaned while he took his arm off of my waist.
"Why must you wake up at," he stopped as he hit the home button on my phone. "5:00am. I don't even wake up until 6:15."
"You would understand if you were a girl, believe me. Being a girl can be torture."
He laughed as I started kicking the blanket off of our bodies, while I began placing my feet on the ground. When I finally gained the strength to stand again, I quickly stretched out my sore muscles before making my way to the kitchen. Hunter eagerly followed me as I began taking out all the ingredients I use to make Chocolate Chip Pancakes.
"Awesome" Hunter exclaimed, as he calmly sat down on one of the stools that was attached to the ground. As he placed his elbows on the counter, he let out an emphatic yawn.
As I started combining the flour, sugar, cinnamon, baking powder, and salt into a large bowl, I felt Hunter's presence standing next to me. But before I had the chance to stop him from whatever he was going to do, I already noticed Hunter's arm trapped in the bag of flour.
"Don't even think about it" I threatened. But suddenly, I felt powdery cake all over my face. I quickly gasped as I grabbed for the hand towel that was usually on the handle of the oven, but turned to see Hunter already taking possession of it as he twirled it around in his hands.
"Looking for this, short stuff?" He inquired, as he gave me a full-on smirk, not bothering to move anywhere as I just gave him a giant glare.
"Hunter Blake, you're so dead!" I yelled, as I quickly grabbed an egg from the carton I pulled out of the refrigerator, and began chasing him around the island counter.
"Shit, you're crazy Reese!" He declared, as he stopped in his tracks as he was about to slip on the residue of flour that he created on the kitchen floor.
Finally, I ganged up on him, as I brought my hand above his head, smashing the egg down on his chocolate locks.
"Fuck" he groaned, reaching for the chocolate chip bag.
"What do you think you're doing? You can't waste chocolate chips! Anybody knows that" I countered, as I poured out a little 1/2 cup of cinnamon, when Hunter began talking.
"Doing the cinnamon challenge, Reese? That's not very safe."
I rolled my eyes, but not before saying to him, "Better shut your damn mouth," as I poured the cinnamon over his head.
Once I backed away, Hunter started pacing in place, signaling that I should probably run. So I did.
As I started moving around the kitchen, Hunter quickly followed my trail, coming close to attacking me.
I let out an unneeded giggle, but not before I felt my back meet up with the floor.
"Shit" I groaned, as I laid in the cinnamon, flour, and leftover egg yolks. Hunter's footsteps were quickly seen by my eyes, as I saw him reach his arm out to me. I instantly reach mine out and took his hand, as he helped me back up.
