I pulled open the door and the pizza guy handed me two boxes.

I smiled, politely, and took the boxes from him.

I pulled out a twenty and a five from my pocket and handed it to him.

"That's too much." He chuckled, handing me back the five.

"Keep it." I shrugged.

"Wow, thank you." He perked up, smiling at me.

"No problem. Thank you for the pizzas."

"No, thank you!" He grinned.

I turned around and closed the door.

"Wait, did he get paid?" Connor asked.

I hadn't noticed him come up behind me.

"I paid him, Connor." I grinned.

Connor opened his mouth like he was going to object, then closed it again.

Say something, Connor. I dare you.

To my surprise, he just smiled at me.

I smiled back.

I placed the pizzas on the small table in the corner of the room.

"Two?" I asked him, staring down at the boxes.

"I wasn't sure if you wanted cheese or pepperoni, so I got both." He said, nervously.

I laughed.

Connor pulled out a slice of pepperoni pizza and sat down at the table.

We silently at our pizza.

I kept stealing glances at Connor when I thought he wasn't looking.

God, he's beautiful.

He can do so much better than me.

He nonchalantly swiped his face with a napkin.

"There's nothing on your face, Connor. You're just really handsome." I commented, nervously.

I saw his cheeks tint to a light shade of pink.

"Don't know what you're doing with a girl like me.." I muttered under my breath so he couldn't hear me,

He placed his pizza down, and took mine from my fingers.

"Hey, I wasn't finished." I exclaimed.

He placed my slice down into the box and took both of my hands in his.

Suddenly, he knelt down in front of me.

I-Is he proposing?!

"C-onnor.." I tripped over my words.

"I'm not proposing." He said to me.

I nodded, relieved.

The slightest flash of hurt flickered in his eyes before it disappeared.

"What do you think of yourself?" He asked, looking up at me.

"What do you mean?"

"Do you think you're beautiful?" He asked me.

I looked away from him

All my insecurities flooded my head. "I'm alright. I mean, look at me. My nose is too big. I'm slightly cross-eyed. My eyes take up most of my face. My right eyebrow isn't aligned with my left, and I have a crooked smile. There's nothing special or beautiful about me. I'm not ugly, but hey.." I shook my head.
