Darah sat down in the potions classroom with the rest of the Slytherins. She was nervous but luckily Pansy Parkinson invited Darah to sit with her.
Darah was thankful of this because she saw Harry Potter across the room from her and didn't want to make friends with the wrong people. Ever since she had met Draco Malfoy she couldn't understand why Harry decided to not become friends with him. Maybe her father really did know best?
As soon as Professor Snape entered the classroom the chatter fell silent. He started by taking a register.
'Darah Lucie?' He spoke slowly as he called the names but didn't look up from his page until Darah's name was called.
'Here.' She said calmly and quietly.
Snape made direct eye contact with her for a split second then carried on with the register.
'Harry Potter.' He paused. 'Ah, yes. Our new celebrity.' Draco and some of the Slytherins sniggered. Darah followed along with them nervously laughing at her father's words.Snape finished the register and introduced the class to potions.
'Potter!' Snape said suddenly. 'What would you get if I added powdered root of asphodel to an infusion of wormwood?'The Gryffindor girl, Hermione's hand shot up into the air, eager to answer the question. Darah also knew the answer but didn't dare put her hand up, she knew this question was for Harry and Harry only.
'I don't know, sir.' Harry said stumped.
Draco jabbed Darah's arm and whispered. 'It's funny because he was raised with muggles, he won't know a thing.' He quietly roared with laughter beneath his breath.
Snape's lips curled into a sneer. 'Tut, tut - fame clearly isn't everything.' He said coldly. 'Where would you look if I told you to find me a bezoar?'
Again, Darah knew this one but her hand stayed down.
Draco and the other Slytherins were shaking with laughter at this point.
'I don't know, sir.' Harry said again.
Snape carried on questioning him. Harry told Snape to ask Hermione, who clearly knew the answer. Snape then asked why no one was writing this all down and everyone rummaged for their quills to make notes.
'A point will be taken from Gryffindor house for your cheek, Potter.' Snape remarked.
Throughout the lesson everyone was put in pairs. Darah and Pansy worked together and they tried to create a boil cure potion.
Luckily for Darah, Snape had taught her a lot about potions as well as the dark arts so she has a small head start.
Snape came round to check everyone's work after a while and criticised almost everyone. He came to Malfoy's potion and congratulated him on it and told the class he had stewed his horned slugs perfectly.
He then reached Darah's potion. He looked inside the cauldron but said nothing and showed no emotion. Darah kept quiet and carried on with her work.
Suddenly acid green smoke filled the room and a boy named Neville Longbottom was covered head to toe in angry boils.
'Idiot boy!' Snarled Snape. He cleaned up the mess with the swish of his wand and started arguing with Neville. He then sent him to the hospital wing and took a point from Gryffindor, blaming it on Harry.
'Ha, what an idiot.' Laughed Pansy to Darah at Neville and Harry. 'Already lost them two points.' She grinned cunningly.
Potions finally finished and everyone started to leave, Darah kept with the Slytherin crowd of Malfoy, Pansy, Crabbe and Goyle. She was about to leave when Snape called her back.
'Lucie, you stay behind.' He said blankly without looking up from his desk.Darah looked towards her new group of friends and told them she'd meet up with them later. They left her alone with Snape in the classroom.
She walked over to his desk where he was sat.
Snape waited before speaking. 'You haven't talked to Potter at all have you?' He questioned strictly.'No.' Darah shook her head.
Snape merely grunted in approval. 'Then be on your way, Darah.' He shooed her away.
Darah reached the classroom door and turned back to face Snape. 'Why can't I let anyone know you're my dad?' She hesitated.
Snape looked up with his black eyes. He frowned. 'That is a story for another time, Darah. Do not ask me again.' He said flatly.
Darah sighed and left the room.
