The first term of the school year went pretty normal for Darah. She was slowly getting the hang of magic and using a wand. Her strongest subject was potions, it came naturally to her just like her father.

During the Halloween feast, commotion occurred as a troll was found in the dungeon.

Dumbledore instructed everyone to head to their common rooms for safety.

Darah shook with fear, she didn't realise trolls could enter the castle. She searched for her father who was somewhere at the front leading them. She pushed through everyone and saw him walking swiftly, his cape swooping backwards.

'Da- Professor.' She corrected.

Snape did not look down but just replied with a mere 'yes?'

Darah's eyes grew huge and worried. 'What's happening? She said full of panic and fear.

'Nothing. Just a small accident I assume.' Snape said coldly. He looked down at the side towards Darah.

She looked back up at him. 'I'm scared Dad.' She whispered.

Snape paused and showed an almost unnoticeable sympathetic smile but for Darah this meant everything.
'You'll be fine in the common room Miss Lucie, I can assure you, the staff here will sort things out.' And with that he let them all into the Slytherin dormitory's and left to go help the rest of the teachers.

Darah entered the room still very much frightened. She sat down in front of the fireplace to warm herself. The dungeons were cold and damp.

She looked behind her and saw Draco and his friends sniggering and not worried at all. She felt lonely, like she was the only one who was feeling nervous.

'Hey Darah!' Draco called to her. Darah spun her head back round to face them again. Draco waved her over.

She got up nervously and slightly shivering.
'Hi.' She spoke timidly, her voice shaking.

Draco looked confused but ignored it. 'We're playing wizards chess, wanna join?'

'Erm.' Darah looked around at everyone's faces for reassurance. 'Okay.'

Draco smiled cunningly and he and Darah sat down to play. Draco played first. 'Pawn to C5.' He commanded confidently.

Darah observed the board. 'Knight to H3'

'Knight?' Laughed Draco. 'Alright then.' He said rolling his eyes. Darah grunted.

'Knight to A6.' Draco said smugly and sat back on his chair, folding his arms.

'You hypocrite!' Darah said bemused. Pansy, Crabbe and Goyle laughed collectively. 'Ok get ready for this move. Pawn to E4.' She said happily.

Draco studied the board trying to figure out what to do next. 'Erm, pawn to E5?' He said randomly.

'Queen to H5.' This time it was Darah's turn to sit back and watch Draco panic.

Draco sprang forwards, desperate to win. 'Knight to C6!' He said quickly.

'Bishop to C4.' Darah commanded causally.

'Oh I see what you're doing here.' Draco tutted. 'Well let me tell you it, won't work. Knight to F6.'

'Queen to F7.' Darah took out Draco's pawn. 'I think you'll find that was check mate.' Darah smiled at Draco.

Draco's eyes widened, bewildered. He scanned the board for any false moves. 'I- you cheated!' He accused Darah.

Darah shook her head and folded her arms. 'Nope, it was just easy.' She shrugged and stood her ground.

'It's tru-' Crabbe began to say but Goyle elbowed him in the guts and he moaned. 'Hey! What was that for?'

'Thought you said you'd never done magic before?' Draco questioned her ignoring Crabbe and Goyle's antics.

'I haven't. I'm just really good at wizards chess. Me and my Dad play it all the time, he's terrible though.' She said scratching the back of her neck and blushing.

Draco huffed and fell back onto his chair. 'If I knew you'd played before I would have actually tried to win. I only let you win because I thought you'd never played.' He said.

'Psh, no way. You just suck.' Darah laughed a little bit too much.

Luckily Draco smirked but then snapped back at her. 'Re-match tomorrow then and I'll prove it to you, Lucie.' He suggested.

'Sure.' Darah said unfazed.

'Oh, this is gonna be good.' Pansy smiled cunningly.
