'Welcome back to another year at Hogwarts.' Dumbledore announced happily.
'I would like to welcome you to your new defence against the dark arts teacher today. Professor Lockhart.' He smiled kindly to everyone and clapped in Lockhart's direction.

Lockhart stood up and brushed his suit down. He took a bow and sat down again.

Whispers flew around the tables, mostly from the girls. 'The Lockhart?' 'He's so magical.' 'I can't believe he's a teacher now!' 'He's amazing.' Dreamy thoughts drifted around as everyone gawped at him.

'Ugh that fool again. He was bad enough in the book shop asking Potter to sign books. Disgrace.' Draco moaned unapologetically.
Pansy made a gruff noise in agreement but Darah could tell she was just as in love as everyone else.

'Potter and Weasley aren't here!' Hissed Draco to his close friends.

They all looked over as they saw empty seats where Ron and Harry would usually be sat.

'How are they not here if they literally flew beside us though?' Darah asked confused.

'I hope they've crashed.' Draco laughed hopefully.

Darah wished they'd be alright, she didn't want Harry and Ron to be hurt. She looked up back at the Gryffindor table at Hermione who was looking around anxiously and alone.

Later that night in the common room the Slytherins were all playing Wizard's chess and relaxing before lessons started and the homework began to pile up.

Darah sat on her own, reading Hogwarts: A History. She was trying to practice her spells and learn the facts of the castle to impress her father. She was happy she succeeded in potions and the dark arts and her father was impressed too but she lacked in other areas, she did not think any of the other teachers were very fond of her.

'What are you reading that rubbish for?' Draco Malfoy had made his way over to her and left the others to play chess.

Darah looked up, slightly offended. 'Bit harsh considering you must know I'm terrible at most of the classes here.' Darah smirked at him and closed her book shut.

He laughed. 'Surely it doesn't matter though, you're pretty decent at potions and dark arts. Who cares about the rest?' He scoffed.

'My father.' She replied simply with a tone of petulance towards Snape.

'Your father sounds a lot like mine.' Draco said tiredly, rolling his eyes as he leant back on the sofa and relaxed.

'You don't know the half of it.' Darah said also rolling her eyes.

Draco scoffed and they both sat in awkward silence for a minute.

'Anyway I best get going.' Darah got up quickly, packing up her things. 'Gotta make a quick visit to Professor Snape.'

Draco raised his eyebrows questioningly.

'Homework stuff, you know.' She told him quickly.

'Yeah that would make sense if we had homework, it's the first day idiot.' Draco laughed knowingly and giving her a cheeky look.

Darah hiccoughed. 'Homework from last year, I'll have you find.' She said confidently and swiftly left the room and made her way down the dungeons into Snape's classroom.

She knocked on the door. 'Come.' A stern voice called.

She entered the room. It smelt damp and musty, she flared her nostrils up as soon as the air went into her lungs.
'I had not missed this.' She muttered quietly, disgusted.

She turned to the desk where her father was sat and plonked her books down heavily on the desk.

Snape looked up at her as if to say 'seriously?'

'Good, wasn't sure whether you'd be in here or not.' She went on ignoring his questioning gaze.

'I need to know about Malfoy.' She announced prominently.
